We cruise from usually Miami or Lauderdale each winter. Last year, we discovered Coco Asian Bistro in FLL. We're going back in 2 weeks! http://www.cocoasianbistro.com/

The flavors are amazing and the seafood is splendid. The best meal I had in Miami was some little Cuban hole in the wall near the airport 2 blocks from the Days Inn called El Rincon de Anita. Not a great neighborhood, but memorable food.

Now you're talking! There are a lot of these places all over Miami and they are almost all cheap and good. I used to live in one of these "Not a great neighborhoods" (NW 36th St. and 12 Ave, they call it Allapattah, right below Liberty City) and the food was smokin''!

Quick recap - Miami was great, and we had not a bad meal. The weather also cooperated for all days but one.

Thursday - Dinner at Palme d'Or, the Biltmore's flagship. Excellent French food in elegant surroundings. Service was solid and not a bit stuffy. Very expensive, but worth it.

Friday - Dinner at Wish in Miami Beach. This is part of The Hotel of South Beach. Nice rooftop bar, and the restaurant is 90% outside in a large courtyard. Food and service were some of the best we've had. An additional nice touch - the menus are lit, so when you open them on a dark night they're easy to read. We really liked this place - just outstanding in every way.

Sunday - Lunch at Versailles. Thanks Tim, this was a great recommendation. It had a bit more of a "touristy" feel than we were looking for, but based on the number of Cubans eating there, and the fact that the food rocked (sorry to say, but their ropa vieja smoked Havana Rumba's), it was a good choice. The cafe con leche was also outstanding. Some friends had lunch at La Carreta, and loved it as well.

Sunday - Dinner at Fontana at the Biltmore. I tried to convince my wife that we had no more money for food, but she really wanted pasta, so we dined al fresco at Fontana. I'm glad we did - it's a little pricey, but they offer all pastas in half portions, and have many wines by the glass. We had a nice light meal to end our trip.

In addition, the poolside, bar, and room service food at the Biltmore was generally very solid.
