See what I told Brad, Justin. We really want to accommodate everyone, but I would be very surprised if you guys aren't using Internet Explorer 6, which is both outmoded and of dubious security protection. Is there a reason (company computer, etc.), that you can't upload a better browser like Firefox or Chrome, or at least update to a more current version of Explorer?

Company computer, don't tell.

Yeah, ditto. I'm fine at home, then, but from work I'm stuck. Only IT upgrades the browsers, and we haven't made the switch as of yet.

I no longer have a screen and a half of raw HTML code at the top of my Blackberry screen. Yeah!

Same problem with the current setup. The Forum + Ads only taking up about 60% of the horizontal viewing space. The rest of the page is just blank white (its exactly like the previous screenshot). And I use Firefox (up to date version), so its not just internet explorer.

Looks and loads great on Fire Fox on my netbook and Dolphin on my Droid. Seems to load up faster on both.

I'm using Firefox Ver. 3.5.6 and have the same view...everything is justified to the left. The problem (if you choose to call it that) becomes less noticeable if I "zoom in" on the view menu, which probably isn't a bad thing considering the state of my eyesight.

Robin, I'm seeing the same thing and I am using IE8.

I'm using Firefox. Newest version. All ads are blocked with my firefox so all I see is the forum in one small, very pushed to the left, column. Over half the screen is solid white, where I assume all the blocked ads are supposed to be.

Using FF here and while it is a bit scrunched to the left, I would estimate the Forums are utilizing about 80% of the available space on the screen. ON IE 6 the Forums are way more scrunched, maybe 50-60%. Not problem for me although I don't use Internet Exploder very often.

For those of you with a "scrunched up" view. Are you using a widescreen (16:9 or so) monitor at full view? This page appears to be formatted for 4:3 monitor. With a widescreen, I usually don't have my window open at full width, so I don't see all the white.

When you all say "scrunched up", does that mean the ad on the right lines up with the right side of the ad on the top? I suspect that the forum content needed to be shrunk down to accommodate the banner ad to the right, and keep the right side of the ad flush with the right side of the header graphic.

I think people might be used to dynamic column sizing on some forums. When you resize your browser the text column expands and contracts with it, leaving the ad on the right side of the browser window, regardless of the column width.

I've looked at a few phpBB sample sites and it looks like they're setting a static column width somewhere, though there should be an option to make it dynamic if you wish.

Oh and to those who are using adblockers, you might want to consider turning that off for Hotbytes since it's a form a revenue for the site, and the ads are not hard on the eyes.

Ie6, narrow column to the left; FF5.0, normal, but the font is a little uncomfortable. Also using a standard (small by today's standards?) sized monitor. I'm having trouble with my Blackberry's browser at the moment so I can't test that, but I'm very excited to hear there's a speedier upload.

Attention Internet Explorer 6 users: :)

Mary said she'll take another look today and see if she can figure out why that one browser is causing problems. If she hits a lucky break, it could be fixed for you today. If not, then no promises. But upgrading to a more current (or better, alternative) browser is still highly recommended, not only for this site but general use.
