Thumbs up for the white pizza from another ex-NYer

Went to Hero's tonight for the second time. Tried a slice again, cheesesteak and the house salad. Everything was good. Pretty busy tonight also.

Hero's

by Sonja W » Tue Jul 10, 2007 9:17 pm

I stopped in at 2:00 this afternoon for a quick slice. Choice was cheese or pepperoni.

Crust was thin and fairly crisp, better than Spinelli's (which I find way undercooked), but it lacked flavor. It had more texture than taste. I was really disappointed in that; it just didn't register in my mouth.

Proportion of cheese-to-crust was right (no sog factor), sauce evenly distributed and not too sweet. The pepperoni was standard-issue.

Overall, I thought it was okay but nothing to write home about. Maybe the 2:00 slot was a factor. I'll return at a busier time and try a variation.

umm, bread flavor and cheese flavor?

I think it's fair to say that pizza should be flavorful.

To push it a little harder, there's Blue Dog, and then there's Wonder Bread. There's Rebluchon or Humboldt Fog cheese, and then there's Velveeta.

There is a difference.

And that being said, I've loved the pizza at Hero's. I'm thinking Brian ought to go back at lunch time.

Still cannot stop my rave about the Hero's Wings and Fried Pickle Spears, They went very well with my very large Chicken Salad. Large portions on the chicken strips and a deep bowl of salad. :D
