I spent about 4 hours at the Zen Tea House today. It's the perfect place for me to study; I'm more productive there than anywhere else. The staff is always friendly and generous, and the tea speaks for itself. I tried the steamed spring rolls for the first time today and loved them. The little jalapeno slice added just a little extra bite to the wonderful dipping sauce.

I fell like the poor step-sister. Being in Etown and with kids most times limits our eating out considerably.

Oasis Sushi- Not the TOP grade sushi in Louisville, but what we had was reallllly good. The service was excellent, and since we used a restaurant.com gc it was pretty cheap.

Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen- gotta love the pumpkin pie ice cream

La Bamba's- not high class, but we do like the burritos, nachos, and the rice water when we are up there late

Kansai here in Etown, but they do have one over the river too.

About Golden Corral, we all know it isn't exactly a great choice. Having said that, we do go there about once a month because I have three growing boys that can eat you out of house and home. GC catered our meals while I worked Black Friday with Rick. Their catering was CRAP! I don't know if we'll be going back again for a loooooooong time.

We are planning on trying to hit Dakshin and Queen of Sheba before Christmas while shopping. Hopefully fit in another restaurant or two.

Mike and I shared the best burger we've had in a while at the BBC st. Matthews. They've also got an excellent english bitter on that was lighter in body so was nice for lunch. I think Marshall is heading up the kitchen again? Correct me if I'm wrong on that.....but the food has definitely improved recently.

over the last month or two.....

Seviche (i guess this hardly counts. but i do eat at work almost every night and i'll never take that for granted!)
Varanese- two fantastic experiences
Dundee Tavern- love their wings!
Cafe Mimosa
Cumberland Brews - i rotate between several sandwiches, but mostly i just LOVE their frys
Homemade Pie Kitchen
Cafe Lou Lou- its cool that they deliver
732 Social
PizzAroma- a decent slice, and within walking distance from home and work
Macaroni Grill- An exception to my anti-chain sensibilities. it kills me a little bit but i really do like their food.
Avalon- good drinks, the food is a let down. But the atmosphere is just so nice!
Bristol- Why do i crave green chile wontons all the time?
Zaytun- cant believe i havent been to Blue Lagoon yet. Maybe next week...
Bearno's- carryout quite often, and one of my favorite bars in the summer
Dragon Kings Daughter- had a terrible experience. everything was bad from the food to the service. But it was REALLY cheap, im talking REALLY cheap so ill probably go back sooner or later.
Boombozz TapHouse- its a great addition to the neighborhood. A real go-to spot.
August Moon
Ramsi's
Panera Bread- My other chain weakness...

Seviche: Excellent lamb chops (my treat to me on Bardstown Road Aglow night) wonderful!
Dragon King's Daughter: very good!
Noodle place on Bardstown: Was ok but I didn't care for so much juice on my noodles, was better after I drained it and put more sauce on! Chicken was over cooked and it was all kinda cold.
Varanese: Birthday dinner for my BF, fantastic! They even let me bring in our own cake (something I had made) and we shared with the staff!
Jeff Ruby's: First time, by myself, had an ok Manhattan, gritty oysters app and a very good sushi roll. Can't decide if the decor is art deco or just garish. Music was great!
Theatre Square: I live next door, so I keep trying it. Absolutely the best Manhattans in town (make sure Hamza makes it), but the food is always just so so. Hope it improves, I so want it to work!
BBC Downtown: Consistently good for what they do.
The Coachlamp: Awesome!
Osaka: Great!
As a side note, 3 of these I used my Restaurant.com gift certificates! What a deal!

Money's been VERY tight lately, the only place I've been in the past 2 weeks is Las Gorditas. It still blows my mind that I can get completely stuffed on GREAT food for less than $10. I've been meaning to get back to Al Watan so I'll probably go there soon. The good news is I get my Xmas bonus this week so I'm thinking Havana Rumba or Cafe LouLou Friday and Boombozz Taphouse for the UK game Saturday.
