Brunch sucks.....Don't even waste your time on a buffet...It's just leftovers

Just read what Bourdain has to say

I try not. He's as pretentious as they come; if not in the top five.

Anyway, there are several buffets in Louisville that serve freshly prepared dishes not reheated or reused.

What have you heard, Dan? I'd like to know?

Agreed. I was surprised by Dan's statement, and to be honest, it made me want to think back over the places where he's worked. A buffet can work out nicely from a cost-value standpoint for the restaurateur, but it's not necessary to cut the kind of corner implied by using stale leftovers, and ethical restaurateurs won't do that.

Is Ramsi's brunch only $13????
Deb

It's actually only $12.99. As for serving leftovers for brunch, I always feel safe going to Ramsi's jbecause they never seem to have a "slow" night and it's hard to imagine much food sitting around there long.

Is it a buffet or a menu brunch, Jim?

I wouldn't consider Doe Run Inn a brunch. I'd consider it a straight up lunch buffet. It's ok as far as buffets go, but I don't understand the desire to drive over there and pay that. My parents do it frequently though. The fried chicken IS really good there.

I've wanted to try Limestone's brunch alllll year, but have yet to make it up there. I'm afraid many of my friends, and most of my family, just don't want to drive over there (about an hour for me) to eat. I've enjoyed my meals there the few times we've been, so I'm sure the brunch is good also.

In the summer I'd have to add in Captain's Quarters. Very standard, sort of like Bristol, but the whole atmosphere of getting your food (for around $13-14?) and sitting on the deck, relaxing, watching the river, and stuffing your body is great.

Otherwise, Limestone & Oak Room . . .

I had brunch at Limestone today and was very pleased. $14 per person and quite a spread. Smoked salmon and shrimp, peel and eat shrimp, pasta salads, soups, beef tips, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, spinach and mushrooms, potatoes, salmon, pork loin, cookies, cakes and cooked to order french toast, pancakes, and omelets.

Very nice and a great value.

A very dapper Robin Garr was also there. I didn't say hi, he seemed to be in some sort of a meeting.

What IS it with this "dapper" stuff!? :D

Next time, just say hi, Justin! We were just out with a bunch of buddies ... one of those after-church groups that don't tip. ;)

We were all pleased, too. An excellent brunch, and thoroughly disproves the legend that restaurants - quality restaurants, anyway - use brunch as a cheap way to get rid of leftovers. Two thumbs up!
