My friend Beau Hampton is apparently serving as music director for his friend, the club owner. The liquor license was not transferred with the property, as the owner had been led to believe, but they'll be able to serve those Abitas beginning December 1st, when they'll start serving dinner as well as lunch. In the meantime, they're working out a few predictable new restaurant kinks, and they'll be having a soft opening on Thanksgiving Eve with live music. Might be fun to check out then as long as your expectations are reasonable for a start-up entity!

Leslie, I think your statement regarding 'patience towards a start-up entity' is important enough to warrant elaborative musing...

I think it says a great deal about the forumites here that patience has been shown towards newbie restaurants over the past year or two. Your statement echoes what I think has become the modus operandi here... and it makes me proud! Most communities that I have seen online tend to fall into the 'drive-by-review' syndrome talked about in the '10 Worst Food Trends' thread.

Our community seems to understand that the restaurant we see in the first 3 months isn't the same place it will be in 6 months. I saw this opening both Varanese and Fusion personally. More recently, look at most of the posts regarding Pot Stickers. To me, this is truly representative of who we are as Louisvillians.

I had the pleasure of meeting the owner recently. I didn't catch his name, but he is young for a restauranteur. To be able to run the gauntlet of bureaucrats, bankers and cynics says a lot about his drive and dedication to his vision. You have to respect that. I also found him to be a cheerful optimist and I will always feel that this quality predispositions one for success (I'm Disney-brainwashed, what can I say?)
