Pesto's?

I put vegetables in your desserts, white chocolate with your fish and other nonsense stuff that you think shouldn't make sense, but coax the nonsense into something that makes complete sense in your mouth. Just open your mind, mouth and eat.

I'm surprised that the tread has gone this far without anyone mentioning Vincenzo's. It was always my impression that this was a Lousiville institution downtown.

I'd add Browning's and the BBC Tap Room for the beer drinkers.

I've never had much use for Pestos. I work a block from there. Food is fine for the price, but service is slooooooooooooow. For price/speed/value, I usually choose Shanghai Chinese down the block (next to Fat Jimmy's).

I had a jerk pork sandwich at Third Avenue Cafe today that was pretty darn tasty. Maybe put them on the list?

Too bad you can't put down Primo . . .

Toast on Market should definitely be on there for what it is

If it is an institution, unfortunately it depends on that for clientele. Most of the recent reviews have been less than spectacular and it's obvious from the advertising and other thing they're doing that their business isn't what it used to be. I speculate that many of the newer progressive downtown restaurants have really hurt their business and image.

Mmm, Saffron. It has been far too long since I've been there, but it should definitely go on any list of downtown eateries.

Also, you shouldn't leave off the plethora of fine chicken establishments that contribute to (or dominate depending upon how late you want to eat) the late-night dining scene downtown. (Maybe not what you had in mind, but everyone gets hungry after a night at the bars! :D )

Working downtown on Broadway- what's down at that end that's fast and good? I like City Cafe, but would be interested in other options.

In no particular order:
The White Oak, Proof, Z's Fusion, Saffron, Toast, Oakroom, The Brown, 732 Social, Bank Street ( yes, include New Albany). Also the small, new place on Market(?) with "Catering" in it's name . ( Help- Robin, I can't remember...)

My top 10 (not in any particular order) is Mayan Cafe, 732 Social, Saffron's, Z's Fusion, White Oak, Theater Square Marketplace, Jeff Ruby's, 310 Bistro, Los Aztecas, and Luigi's.

Mellilos would be on the list if they were still around. I miss those rice ball.
