I'd certainly try it. I'm a big fan of sausages in general. Still, when I think "salame," I think Italian, and remember some mighty fine samples - in near-infinite variety - that I've had over there. Volpi, of St. Louis, does a darn good job of emulating Italian regional salames, and Lotsa Pasta carries a lot of them. Filzette and Sopressata have both been exceptionally good.

Hebrew National (They answer to a higher authority.)

This is not your typical hard salami, like Genoa....but it is pretty darned tasty.

I'd like to find some Hebrew National salami, I havent seen any in my travels around L'Ville.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,

You may be in luck- I think they have it at Costco now. Recently, I picked up some large rolls of Hebrew
National product in a display case, hoping it was their bologna- which I love. But it was a different product- I'm pretty sure it was salami. I'll try to remember to verify the next time I'm there.

Deb

Costco is experimenting with Hebrew National and other similar brands. They used to have either Sinai or Bests, but when Sara Lee discontinued those back in January Costco is trying out replacements (other brands, but made to Costco formula rather than standard brand formulae). Our favorite (cheap) lunch used to be $1.50 for a 4+oz Sinai Kosher hot dog & a fountain drink at Costco; while they sill have it, they are using other suppliers (but made to the old formla).

In other words, you might want to go fast for the Hebrew National, as - if they don't like it - Costco may very well change brands, realizing that even then it may not be the Herew National you're used to!
