I would suggest parking in the galt house garage and ride the elevator up and your right there

I am going to try to head out there. I am thinking the sun and air will help us get over this darn illness we have.

Now.. can anyone give me directions there. I do not know the downtown area, i would be coming from Indiana. If there is an address nearby that i can mapquest, that is even better.

How does parking work here? I have two babies, so i am trying to plan out what i need to take/ length of walk etc.

I was there at lunch yesterday, and the Valumarket cuban is indeed $5 for a pretty large sandwich. And it's awesome. Their sides were also reasonable - ears of corn were a buck, guava pasty for dessert was 2/$1. They had bags of plantain chips for a dollar or two. They also had black beans and rice, potato balls, etc but I can't recall the prices. None was out of bounds.

Yang Kee Noodle and Shiraz were also on hand (Yang Kee had bowls of firecracker chicken for $5 I think, plus lots of other choices). There was a jamaican vendor whose food I was told was fantastic, but I didn't get to try it.

Plus there are 3 or 4 stages of music and entertainment, most of which was very colorful and kid-friendly. If I didn't have other plans tonight, I'd be taking the family back.

The potato balls at valu's booth were a buck for two. They were tasty enough for fifty cents each. The basmati rice and naan from india palace were very good. The turkish place, istanbul palace I think it was, had some fantastic food, and the turkish coffee was delicious. My buddy got the ouzo cake from the greek booth, and I tried the walnut cake, and we both agreed that what we had was very good.

All in all, it was very fun. A good way to spend friday and saturday, wandering around sampling food and listening to music, and watching dancers.

Wish I had thought to read the rest of this post this morning! I caught the part about the tamales from Guatamala yesterday and that was about it! Found those, after much wandering, but they were great!! Got both pork and chicken and brought some home too.

We tried quite a few things, I really liked the chicken satay from Asiatique. Hubby liked a cannoli from Adrienne's. I'm not normally a cannoli fan, but it was pretty good. Sadly, we were too full to check out Yang Kee Noodle, it seems to have many good reviews and kept a crowd! Definitely found a few places to check out though!

Really couldn't ask for a better event for the new people in town!

Too bad our Juleps booth (Sullivan catering wing) got lost in the foodie map - we had really nice dishes representative of all of our sister cities, and well-priced, too. We were in the Sister Cities Village, right across from the booths of the individual countries. By the time most people decided to drop by and visit the info booths, they'd already eaten. Maybe next year . . . :?

Leslie,

It was too bad that your booth was located in such a hidden location. My wife, daughter and I purchased one of your sampler plates and found your food to be very tasty and easily the best value of anything we had in the two visits we made to Worldfest. My wife does not eat much meat but loved your ham & cheese. The vegetable ceviche was slammin'. Just know that not everyone missed your booth. We'll make sure to look for you again next year.
