The first place I ever saw egg on a burger was at Fatburger. I'd love a Fatburger to come to Louisville. Good food and open 24 hours.

I've tried almost every burger they offer and really like them all. If I had to choose a fave or 2, they would be the Royal burger with the egg and 3 strips of bacon and the pot roast burger. Yeah, it's not really a hamburger, but it's great. I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but the seasoning for the fries is outstanding. I like it so much I bought a bottle. You get a huge bottle for something like 3 dollars. The burgers are a little pricey but you do get all the fries you can eat and they are normally very tasty, especially with the Red Robin seasoning.

Hey all--- I saw the Red Robin thread and I had to add my two cents :)

My husband is a manager at this RR, and before moving to KY, I worked for the company for four years. I do agree that there are always areas of opportunity in chain restaurants, but I can assure you that my husband and his staff work their tails off every day.

I think that for what you pay for, the value is comparative. Sure, I can have lunch for $5 and $8 (and everything in-between and way above) other places, but at RR I can have lunch for $10.00 with a great burger and a beverage, and not only are the portions huge (have you seen the size of the Monster Burger?) but the menu has a good variety (including turkey, fish, Boca and veggie burger options). I love this concept, not only for the eclectic menu, but also for the way it takes care of its "team members" (employees). The corporation is very, very good to those who work for them---but I digress, as this is a "food" forum. :)

I know I can speak for my husband when I can tell you that he takes every guest comment, praise and complaint very seriously, and is committed to ensuring Red Robin takes care of the folks here, as they have taken care of Red Robin since it opened.

I know, I know--- I may seem a little biased, and maybe I am. I think it's a great concept.

As Brownsboro Crossing continues to grow as a development, and with the addition of the new hospital in 2009, I can only hope that RR will continue to grow here in Louisville, and continue to satisfy Louisvillians.

Thanks to everyone who's liked it so far, and for those who haven't, please come on back and give us a try!

Natalie Tucker

PS: Doogy---The Pot Roast sandwich is fantastic, isn't it? It's one of my favorites!

I finally got to go. The Pot Roast Burger was good, but the sandwiches were definitely not as big as advertised. The Pot Roast Burger may have been worth the price tag, but not the other burger we had (WHiskey River).

If you're in the neighborhood, then maybe, but no need to go out of one's way.

BTW, egg is a popular burger topping in Japan. That is why is available as a topping, and why an evil egg was in the arcade game Burgertime.

I agree. Cousin's is great, however I haven't been there in years. RR is ok, the burgers are good, but are kinda expensive for what they are. Fries are good, but I never take advantage of the unlimited fries because, well, how many fries do you need?? I would rather go to cousin's. I love to put coconut on my burgers there....

A friend had a similar burger while dining at The Vortex in Atlanta. Very cool place that we'll hit again if passing through ATL. The Nacho Tots were outstanding.

Great burgers.......at least back in 1999. My first experience was a location north of Seattle on the way back from a trip to Vancouver. Have not been to the one here yet.

I agree, pretty much, although I do feel that it's slipped a little in recent years ... food used to be great but is still very good. Counter service used to be first-rate but now consistently reminds me a little of McDonald's or Burger King, with too many sullen, mumbling kids who act like they'd much rather be doing just about anything else in the world than taking your order.

I also feel that WW Cousins has slipped over the past couple years. I have had good burgers at Red Robin, even though I have only been there twice. Actually one of the best burgers that I have had is at Maywood Country Club in Bardstown. It is a very nice half pound burger, with many variations including a black and bleu and others. They are around 8 bucks with fries, but on Mondays they have $5 burger night.

I like WW Cousins and go there now and then. Still like the place and feel that the burgers and bread are fine, and the fixins bar still impressive even if it's pulled back just a bit from days of old.

I hate to sound cranky, but I think the big change there has been in the counter service, which reminds me more and more of Mickey D's in both the sullen frowns and the incomprehensible mumbling.

My biggest problem with RR is that they only do burgers medium well or well. We prefer WWC, but get the half pound (the third pound has a tendency to come out too well done). We also sometimes like Max & Erma's, really around the corner from RR, and who can actually make the 10 oz burger rare or medium rare (tho they've never mastered the trick with the smaller burger)

The food is pretty good, but I think it's relatively expensive for burgers and french fries.

Imagine nachos with tater tots as the base rather than tortilla chips. Not something I would have ever picked from a menu, but a friend ordered them and insisted I try them. I ended up making a version of them for my following super bowl party and everyone loved them.
