With two restaurants (one in Clarksville and one near U of L), I suppose they would qualify as a "chain", but we enjoy the food and service at Senor Iguana's at Exit 4, adjacent to I-65.

Clarksville Seafood is a classic institution on Eastern BLVD. Call before you go for they have wierd hours. Expect a line out the door. Get the fried onions with the fish and xtra hot sauce. Awesome!

I agree.... Senor Iguana's is the best Mexican restaurant in the area. The location near UofL is noticably better than their Clarksville sibling.

El Mundo...La Rostia...sorry. I believe it is ever American's Constitutional right- Republican or Democrartic - Christian or Muslim - UofL, IU or UofK fan's - to have free chips in a Mexican restaurant.

i have often wondered about Senor Iguana's. Is it Americanized Mexican or real Mexican food? Is it anything at all like El Nopal? I DO NOT like that place......

I'm absolutely NOT an expert on Mexican cuisine, but I hope you'll give them a try. They have all the usual items you'd expect at a Mexican restaurant but several were a surprise to me.

We really enjoy the white salsa (not queso). And you've got to get a Banana Burrito to finish off your meal . . . whole peeled banana wrapped in a flour tortilla, lightly fried until crispy, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, drizzled with chocolate and caramel syrups, garnished with whipped cream. Plenty to share!

While it is Americanized Mexican, it is noticeably more flavorful than El Nopal. Nice atmosphere, tasty food.

Americanized Mexican is sort-of ok to me..... but El Nopal is just sooo bad. I feel they are extremely overpriced and the food is not even mediocre.

Lois.... that banana burrito sounds sooooooo good. We might go just for that.... i am sure my girls would go crazy for it.

Don't forget about Studio's Grille & Pub on E. Main St. New Albany, it's just around the corner from the Windsor and NABC! Great meals and good drinks along with the outdoor courtyard!

I would really like to finally try Bank Street but it doesn't look like the serve a full menu around 5:00.

A tad north (c10 mi north of IUSoutheast), but on weekends the Chicken House has some of the best fried chicken in the country (plus country karioke for entertainment)

Don't forget about Huber's Farm - not as good as it used to be, but fun

Finally, Buckhead's, the Bristol, and Rocky's are all local (tho mini-chains).

Pizza and Spinach Kase dip washed down with an Elector. I shouldn't have even asked for other options. I always end up at Richo's when I cross the river.

I really like Federal Hill Cafe on Pearl St. in New Albany. Their Italian Sandwich and Corn Chowder are the best I've had!
