Me and my brother went to Five Guys today. We'll be back. Huge, huge burger... which was pretty good. Fries were awesome (similar to Penn Station) and was the real selling point for me.

I may have asked about this placed a while back, but there used to be a diner on the road to Taylorsville that served the best hamburger I'd ever had in my life. It was one of the places that never cleaned the grill , but you could tell everything was good. For the life of me, I can not remeber the name.

I have never have had an In Out burger myself or Jack in the box.

Kyle, I know the place you are talking about. I salivate thinking about it. Ray's? Roy's? Ralph's? I don't know, but it did start with an "R."
However, sadly, it is closed.

That well could be it, Gayle. It was THE best hamburger, hands down. From what I remember , it was in a smaller store? I think, but this was so many years back...

Been lurking for a while here...

Had my first In-N-Out out in Santa Cruz a couple of weeks ago.. and have to say it was delish. Wish we did have a few back this way. Have had Five Guys over across the pond in New Albany and wasn't as impressed.

While out running errands this afternoon, I found myself in the vicinity of The Summit and thought to drop in for a burger at Five Guys. I've been a fan of FG for quite sometime and was not disappointed with the fare from this new location. The buger was a wee bit too well done (and thus a little dry) but otherwise the flavor was very good. The fries are top notch and just a hint to anyone who hasn't gone to FG...one order of fries is enough for at least 2 or 3 people. This is not the best burger in town but (IMHO) it towers over the "big three" when it comes to fast food burgers.

Five Guys is pretty darned good, and could spell doom for Max 'n' Erma's in the Summitt, that said, when I have burger cravings I go straight to Cousins.....it's as reliable as clock work, and they use top notch ingredients and product.....you all always say stay local.....hahahahahahaha

I honestly really liked 5 guys. They were a bit overstaffed though..but it did get busier during the time we were there though. We both ordered the small burgers..which was more than enough. The only thing I'd do differently is to ask them to make the fries a little more crispy. I like fresh cut fries..but hate them when they're underdone and it's just a dense potato slab.

My first 3 trips to 5 Guys were great.

Today was a repeat of the last visit. I was on my way to an appointment, so I got a take out that I was going to be eaten in my car.

1 minute after having my ordered called, I was in my car eating my burger. The burger was no where near hot. Did it sit off the grill or in a bag too long before they called my number?

The first 3 times I went to 5 Guys, I was very impressed. After 2 luke warm burgers, I won't go back.

If this was McDonald's and/or their prices, I wouldn't complain. But for what 5 Guys charges, I expect the burger to be hot.

My feeling is that this has a lot to do with the employees each day.

Today, 5 minutes after I ordered, I witnessed an employee from another fast food location in the same shoppimg center, appear and offer a "food trade" for a bag of her restaurants food in exchange for food from 5 Guys. Even though my order was placed at least 5 minutes before her's, she received her food at least 5 minutes prior to mine. Which explains my cold food and this is obviously theft from 5 Guys--some burgers and fries that the owner received no money for in exchange for a bag of food from another restaurant that is to be eaten by employees.

I agreed that her getting the food before you must probably wrong but I expect the trade was prearranged and probably the owner/manager knew about it. This practice is quite common among fast food restaurant employees. Normally, employees are allowed a meal per shift and quite possibly they traded their meals for meals from the other restaurant since after working with a food product you normally don't want to eat it. Also, it's quite possible the exchange order had been queued up before yours via a phone call. I'm not defending the restaurant only this practice.

I agree with Mark. While I do not defend the meal, Traded Meals were a common occurrence while I worked in foodville. Even places that opened at 4pm traded lunches with other places because prep people were there as early as 9 am for the days lists. Most,if not all, were set up by the managers.

This is pretty interesting in that the GM at Martini told me that 5 Guys told him they do no food trade outs.....

Perhaps that's their 'official' policy. But, I'd be hard pressed to believe there is any place that's never done it. Or, not currently doing it under the radar. I really don't see a problem with it.
