I've been enjoying the Ernesto at Connor's Place in beautiful downtown New Albany.

Doug A wrote:Just to give you another option, Avalon has a pretty good Cuban Sandwich and one of the nicer patios in town. If the weather cooperates and you want to eat outdoors we find Avalon pretty hard to pass up. They have lots of variety and their small plates menu always seems to get passed around the table for those that may want something other than the Cuban.

Our plant used to be less than a mile from the original Valu that started the Cuban Sandwich. It used to be a regular in our lunch rotation and that is one of the things I miss most since we moved to Jeffersonville.

Enjoy your visit.

I have to second that. I'm not a big fan of cuban sandwiches (please don't shoot me), but my mom fell in love with Avalon's on a recent visit, and for being a cuban sandwich, I really liked it too.

At $10, it may be a little out of the price range you're thinking of, but it's huge and comes with fries, and as Doug said, the patio is great if the weather cooperates. On a nice Saturday afternoon you could eat out there wearing whatever you felt like wearing.

I also recommend Havana Rumba. Highly. The service is fantastic, and the food is to die for.

My out of town friends ordered a Cubano at Mojito today and said it was one of the best they have had.
