Thank you Sanjay. She went to St Louis last year and was able to spend her meal money in quite a few businesses around campus. This is really pathetic. She only had to spend $175 so it's not too bad, but I would hate to be limited that way if I was a dorm resident.

The dorm students have to pay for a much higher meal plan.

Of course they did not consult with their customers (students). Sodexo got the food service business by agreeing to spend their money on upgrading the food facilities. The meal plan guarantees them a profit no matter whether the product is good or bad.

The wife and I finally made it by the Dutchman's location for lunch today. The fried fish and asada tacos were awesome. The salsa bar was also a great surprise. 4 tacos, rice, beans, chips, salsa, queso, 2 jarritos = $20.

The service was also fantastic.

As a matter of fact, I had Bazo's for the first time Tuesday nite too at Dutchman's Lane. I had a Fried Fish and Grilled Fish Taco. Both were very well prepared while the store and employees were top notch. The ONLY thing I'd do different is have try it without tomatoes next time. But, this is in no way to slight anything they did; all of it was fantastic. The Black Beans and Rice serve with the 2 tacos were decent and Salsas were pretty good.

I'll be back....

How long as Bazo's been around and is it a Louisville-based company? I have never been there. We plan on going and trying the fish tacos soon. The last to time we had fish tacos was in San Diego last year. Very addiciting!

The above is Robin's review from 2002, updated in 2003. It was started by the Tony Boombozz folks, and appears to have had a few incarnations, etc.

To answer your question, it appears that yes, it is a Louisvile-based and Louisville-started operation (I don't think they exist elsewhere), and have been around since 2002.

Hello JD,

Yes, Bazo's is locally-owned and started right here in Louisville. Bazo's has been around since late 2001,and while there have been a few incarnations, the two current stores are direct descendants of the original location in St Matthews. We do have ties to the San Diego area and would put our fish tacos up against any you'll find on the west coast.

Here are the addresses to both locations

St Matthews (DuPont circle)
4014 Dutchman's Lane
Louisville, KY 40207

Mon - Sat : 11.00 am to 9.00pm
Sun : 11.00 am to 8.00 pm

University
1907-C S. 4th Street
Louisville KY 40208
502-899-9746
Mon - Sat : 11.00 am to 10.00pm
Sun : 11.00 am to 9.00 pm

Another fantastic trip to Bazo's. It is quickly becoming our go-to spot for quick, friendly, cheap, delicious, dining. If they only had margaritas.

I went there four times the previous week while spending time at Norton Suburban. What a refreshing break from the stale, refried bean, options at the TexMex restuarants, or the pre-packaged Moes and Qdoba choices. Bazo's is definatley a cut above in my view.

Been there twice now (as it's right across from my work!) and love the food. We were there last week and it was hopping!

Everyone can hate on Moe's for being a chain all day but they earn major points with me for having Tofu as an option. As a vegetarian that hates beans it's a welcome option.

NO!! "Word" as in hip-hop for "That's right, man!" I never point out simple typos, grammaros or brainos. It's bad netiquette, and I'm as subject to 'em as anyone else.
