I would head down Breckinridge Lane and turn right on Dutchmans to get to Bazos Fresh Mexican Grill. The fish tacos are some of the best cheap eats in town.

Just a few minutes down the road. I have never eaten there and from the reviews, i think it would be too spicy for my children. My husband and i would love it, but i am afraid it is not suitable for the kids.

Talk to the server or owner. Although they spicy food, they also have plenty that is not. I have no doubt that they can easily accommodate your children if they are the least bit adventurism. I don't know, but they may have a childrens menu. The people are very helpful.

Cafe Lou Lou (St Matthews location) is about as loud as it gets. Unnerves me, can't imagine a baby would like it.

Nah, we took our niece and nephew there when they were 2 and 4 (3 and 5 now), and they did fine. I imagine it depends on the night--a Friday or Saturday might be a little much for a very young child, but I believe Becky said Tuesday nights, which I doubt are that loud or packed.

Lou Lou also does great feeding kids, with very good and very inexpensive options for children.

Steve, Becky was looking for a place close to her church. The St. Matthews location is nearby.

I know, she also mentioned Hikes Lane at Bardstown Road. I though maybe the Douglas Loop location might be more convenient. It's definitely quieter.

As for kids not being adventurous on food, it all depends on how you raise 'em....

I've seen some kids who won't touch anything other than standard american diet. But my big kid is crazy about stuff like avocados, and will eat tomatoes like an apple. His favorite food is artichokes (just like his daddy). Some stuff, like indian food, does get too spicy, but a cup of water usually does the trick for him.

i think I have a good foodie in the making. But if any of you have any young kids, I'd highly encourage you to give them lots of fruits and veggies at an early age. It really gets them to appreciate the flavors. Then add spiced foods gradually..

Cheers..

P.s. Sorry no great suggestions for this particular thread...

I'd try W.W. Cousins. I believe they have a kids eat free night. In the Hikes point area, my favorite place is the Pizza Place (I believe that is what its called now).
