GREAT nomination! Flabby's, Wagner's ... I might once have named Genny's, but I hear they've been on a bad slide lately. Granville Inn might work, too. How about Cottage Inn?

We went to Genny's for the first time (believe it or not) over the past week or 2. I was craving a good diner burger, so we got burgers and shared onions rings. The burgers were actually pretty good, but the o rings were awful. I thought they were freezer burnt, and just bad. Seems like a hard thing to really mess up, but we each ate about 1, and decided it wasn't worth it. The place is dark (we sat in a corner that didn't even have any lights on), and very empty. It's dingy, and felt really dirty to me. The table was sticky, the carpet seems gross, the walls are old dark paneling, and the bathroom almost made me gag. I know it had its heyday, but it seems those days are long gone. I wouldn't want it on national tv as representative of Louisville eats, I know that. It might be a better candidate for 'Restaurant Makeover', if it were still around.

Even the tanks were in-between fish when we were there.

Understand, I'm not trying to bash on a Louisville institution, but we were really disappointed, and I really wouldn't want them on DDD. S'all I'm sayin.

I was being facetious. Last time I was there they were green and slimy like a biology experiment gone bad.

The first and last time I ever went was a couple of years ago. My hubby ordered a hamburger, took a bite, and discovered that despite looking cooked and lovely on the outside, It was still almost completely RAW in the middle. He sent it back, and it was cooked the second time, but after that, I just haven't been able to go back. That, and the green fish tanks. Ugh. You're right, the whole place made me feel dirty.

Mike Linnig's makes a dang good rolled oyster, as do the remaining King Fish locations.

Why in the world would you send it back! That's when the tastes the best and most places refuse to cook them that way anymore for fear of legal problems. There's only one or two places in town that will cook them at least medium well which is way to much in my opinion.

Thanks for the reminder, Brian. My memory must be about three days long. Still, there's no harm in bringing it up again.
