I saw a DakShin truck on Bonnycastle today and it all started to click.
Just curious....

No new kid syndrome there!

I guess Kashmir suffers from being older. The new kids on the block tend to garner more attention. It wasn't too long ago that Kashmir was everyone's darling and everyone's favorite "ethnic" restaurant. My how times have changed. If I had my druthers, there is no better place to have Indian food than Kashmir on a nice spring day on their patio.
annemarie m wrote:all this talk about indian restaurants brought memories of a place my husband and i frequented a lot about 18 years ago in lou. it was if i remember on bardstown rd, by the hotels and possibly across from the movie theaters. in that general area. (i think) if i remember correctly the outside of the building had an indian motif. back then it was like the only place in town, not very clean as i remember. so anyone know what place i talking about and are they still around? thanks

Years ago, we had a tasty but hysterical meal at the original India Palace location in the Admiral Benbow Inn on Bardstown Rd., as it was labelled at the time. I had spent a summer living in London and became an Indian cuisine fiend, so when it opened we had to go. As I recall, the hotel part was closed and they had set up shop in a portion of the lobby. It was winter and a very chilly night. When we were seated, they brought 4 space heaters out and surrounded our table, with extension cords trailing out of sight down the hall. And they proceeded to do that with every table that came in. 12 space heaters later, we couldn't quit giggling but were a little concerned for our safety. I'm sure the fire marshall would have had a coronary.
Oh, and since I'm here, for what its worth, I've always enjoyed Kashimir and really, really like Bombay Grill. I haven't made it to Dakshin but have always heard the best about it. Its just a little too far off my beaten path at the moment.
