What I meant to say was I cannot wait for my wife to leave town because she is slightly off put by the thought of boiled Crawfish and the rituals associated with consumption. I have been married for 20 years and she and I do not share the same joie d'vie regarding certain "vittles" eg: Crab/fish boils, whole hog roasts, Cabrito, Squirrel with Morel gravy, game birds or Rocky Mountain oysters. I am a nice boy of 57 who is a foodie of 45 years. Give me a Dixie Blackened Voodo and a wet nap , step back, keep your hands out of my reach.

No offense taken, you can usually pick me out as the guy in the stained shirt enjoying his meal. I do the laundry as well as the cooking. She does the grass mowing. I plan my infrequent vacations by the Saveur culinary map not AAA. She does not enjoy the same route, usually. She does not see the significance of Boudin drives, Que stops and the Tabasco Island tour but does OK at the Girradeli factory.

If she's into Ghiraridelli, tell her to stop by the Ghiraridelli sponsored cooking event at the fair this year. It's the first year they have participated. It's on the first Sunday of the fair at 6pm in the East Wing lobby area. Actually, there's still time to enter, you have until July 1st to get entries in. Should be a lot of fun!

Selena's has specials? Any mention of specials was also omitted from our experience there. I'm starting to suspect maybe we just got a nub server.
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Yes, they normally have specials! Sounds like you just got a server who wasn't there that day.

I had a lovely lunch there today and met the owners Chris and Allen. Soft shelled crab po'boy- awfully tasty, I must say. And brerad pudding shared for dessert with a delicious sweet bourbon sauce.

They said that they were open for Sunday brunch 11-2 with a string trio on the patio. Sounds like heaven to me. I don't know about Sun PM hours.

We had a great dinner at Selenas last week. The service was spot on and the atmosphere is great. When we visit our friends near there, we always make sure to stop in.

We took some out of town guests to Selena's for dinner this past Saturday and once again the food, service and overall experience was top shelf. One of our guests has been "in the business" (front of the house) for years and she had some very nice things to say about the service.

I loved Selena's especially the bread with garlic butter and the atmosphere. They are very helpful and have fixed a lunch item twice for us at dinner.

I keep laughing all these posts praising Selena's. Early on when I was praising them and saying how great they were people were accusing me of working for them. They couldn't believe that a restaurant in this location could be so good. Now it appears the tide has turned in everybody likes them. People just need to realize that I'm an explorer and early adopter!
