Please send your email to the prosecutors.
We don't know exactly all the charges that will be brought, but we know that Assault 1 and Wanton Endangerment are definites, and we assume there will be other charges as well.
Prosecutor Kathleen Reed will present the charges and evidence to the Grand Jury on July 10 at 2:30. This is a CLOSED session. If the Grand Jury returns a True Bill, meaning an indictment on one or more charges, then Chris Hutchison will prosecute the case. The Grand Jury's findings will be revealed in OPEN session in Courtroom 10 in the Judicial Building at about 1 p.m. on June 11. Although family representatives will likely be in attendance, there's no need for you guys to come to that.
What we DO need from ALL of you is letters of interest and support for the prosecutors. You should consider the following points: (Please, in your own words.)
Mr. Mett, according to the reports on WLKY has a long history of violence and multiple arrests. He represents a danger to Louisville citizens.
The result of Mr. Mett's actions has likely resulted in grievous physical harm to another person (Les) that could very well be permanent. (See Health Update below.)
Mr. Mett's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
Mr. Mett's action's were wanton, demonstrating NO regard for the safety or well being of others.
Mr. Mett left the scene of the accident he (allegedly) caused without rendering aid.
Les' outward physical recovery has been remarkable. However, you'll see from the below Health Update, he has lost the senses of smell and taste. This may be temporary. It may not be. Imagine your life with being able to taste your favorite foods. Or smell a rose.

Health Update -
We saw the Neurologist this morning and he was very positive about Les's recovery. He said he was surprised Les was able to be back at work with as much cognitive function with what he had seen on the CT scans. The latest CT shows that the brain swelling continues to diminish.
Now for the down side. Les has not been able to smell or taste anything. At first we thought it was related to the medicine but he has been medicine free for over a week. His 1st cranial (Olfactory) nerve is damaged and that accounts for the loss of smell and subsequently the loss of taste. The doctor cannot determine from the CT scan if the nerve was bruised or severed. He said nerves can heal and that Les's sense of smell/taste may return. There is no time frame for this type of recovery. Considering what Les has been through he is a very lucky person to only have this damage. But all of you who know Les, know what a foodie he is and so it was hard to hear this news today.
