Cigarette Litter

by Kim H » Thu May 10, 2007 8:26 pm

Ok, litter has been an issue for me since I was SEVEN, and the, "Give a Hoot, Don't Polute" program was out. And it makes me soooo angry that people feel they can dispose of anything in the great outdoors, and the general trash in this city is personally insulting to me. And I am a smoker, but have always been aware of not throwing my butts out the window or onto the ground. If there is no ashtray, I will completely snuff it, and find a trash can, or put it in my cigarette box until I find one. And I encourage all smokers I know to do the same. What really outrages me is to be in an area where there are multiple ashcans, and watch people STILL throw their butts on the ground!! I wish I had never started, and am contemplating quitting, but it's very difficult. But I hope this starts an awareness for other smokers to be conscious and considerate of what they are doing.

I wish I had a dollar for every time I have witnessed a cigarette butt being carelessly discarded in Kentuckiana...Not only could I be living large in my Glenview estate, but I could fly off to my Wailea Beach luxury condo twice a year, if not more...Sad, but true...

The Middletown Fire Chief was suggesting that restaurants and even homeowners consider using decorative rock in the lawn areas nearest the building instead of mulch. Sounds like a good idea!

Just picture how attractive cigarette butts would look against decorative rock.

"I wish I had a dollar for every time I have witnessed a cigarette butt being carelessly discarded in Kentuckiana."

I once saw a bumper sticker that said, "My world is not your ashtray!"
How true!!

Butts

by Doogy R » Sat May 12, 2007 12:31 am

Cigarette butts are litter. Why do I need to change my landscaping because people who smoke want to toss lit cigarette butts in it? This crap about the rock is ALL wrong.
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.
