Re: Farmers Markets on Derby?

by carla griffin » Sun May 03, 2009 8:27 am

We checked out the farmers market at NC yesterday with derby guests in tow... only about 5 or 6 booths there. The others I guess reasoned no one would be there because of derby. Instead, there was a fairly healthy crowd milling around asking where everyone was. Very embarrassing. I'll go back next week to see if their line ups show up and if not , I won't return. Back to the St Matt's farmers market for me.
On another note, we went to the movies at Tinseltown at around 4PM thinking they would be slow and instead found them packed. The young lady at the window said they had been busy all day.

We were vendors at that (NC)market when it started, but we found it to be inconsistent as well. We do the Bardstown and the St Matts now,and really appreciate that they put such a heavy emphasis on vendors showing up with regularity. As vendors weve always felt that no show vendors really hurt the market for everybody.Just a reminder St Matts starts May 16.

And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

We got busy, and didn't make it to NC market yesterday, and now, I'm glad we didn't. Might try again next weekend, but thanks for the report, Carla!

Hey John - I should probably know this, but I don't. If I wanted to come to your place to just buy plants, etc., where are you?

I didn't get any local asparagus this weekend, so I will definitely give you a call! Thanks, Chef! Maybe I can pop in for lunch sometime this week! Should I call first to verify that you will have local asparagus on the menu? It will probably just be me, as my DH will be working, but I assume it comfortable for 1 to sit at the bar?

Kim,

Unless it's absolutely slammed, I wouldn't sit at tjhe bar- I'd sit at a table solo. Nothing wrong with the bar, but the tables are absolutely lovely, and Corbett's is the kind of place where they'd welcome solo diners and not make you feel any thing less than t"heir best customer" when dining solo at a table.

Thanks, were out in the middle of nowhere. About 20 minuted out of Shelbyville right near Taylorsville lake. Our phone 502-738-5502, our street address 2976 Van Buren(hwy 636) rd. I will also be at Phoenix Hill farmers market tomorrow(Tuesday) 3 to 6 in the afternoon. Its in the parking lot of the Bodega (the old Mellios spot). Love to see anybody from the forum make the trip out here.

Oh, I could probably make it down there tomorrow! If not, though, my husband and I like out-of-the-way places, and it could be a nice drive to check out your place. Thanks!

Thanks, Deb! Sounds like good advice!
