This sounds like an interesting outing, in regards to myself for one main reason...*deep breath* I gave in and tried sushi for the first time about two years ago. I absolutely loved what I had at the time, and regretted holding out for so long. I had been conditioned from a young age that the only things okay to eat were fully cooked (I am also proud to say that I have gotten over only ordering any type of beef "well done"). I have not had the chance to go out with anyone that has any sort of mastery over different types of sushi and therefore do not have much knowledge on the topic. I consider this to be an educational experience and shall bow down to any that would be willing to show me the ropes :D :D :D

Mandy, I am sure if you come there will be plenty of willing folks to educate you. It won't be me, although I am planning on coming. I have a very limited experience with sushi.

Definitely count me in for this one as long as its not on the 22nd. I'm teaching a BLS course that day, and I'm not sure what the times are yet.

The poll closed this morning. So it is official - the Sake Blue off line event will on Monday, June 15. I'll get in touch with Sohee and post details the first week of June.

Excellent!
This will be a tremendous time for everyone. Great sushi and if you've never had sushi before a wonderful way to learn what you've been missing. I hope everyone that is thinking that it might not be for them will reconsider and come join us. Sohee is a wonderful hostess and her sushi chefs are amazing. I think we're all going to be in for a rare treat!

I would definitely like to come. With it being summer, I'm sure I can find a sitter.

Carolyne, I've sent a pm to Sohee asking her what time will work the best for the restaurant. When I hear back from her, I post it here.

Update on Sake Blue offline event

by Gayle DeM » Mon Jun 01, 2009 11:13 pm

The next Louisville Hotbytes Forum Offline will be :D at Sake Blue Monday, June 15 at 6:00 p.m. Sake Blue is located on Bardstown Rd. out in Fern Creek just near the 265.

Remember in an earlier post Sohee (Sohee Lacey manager of Sake Blue and a fellow fourmite) made the following offer: "In addition to people ordering off the menu (sushi, bistro, teppanyaki), Chef Jack will make a couple of complementary signature dishes that may or may not be offered on our regular menu. These 'tasting' dishes will be fun and interesting, and will definitely be unique to Sake Blue. We will also offer a tasting of our premium organic cold sake that will be a crisp & refreshing complement to the dishes."

So far the following people have indicted that they wish to attend:

Carla Griffin
Gayle DeM (confirmed)
Robin and Mary (confirmed)
Marsha White
Dan L. and wife
Carolyne Davis and Gordon (confirmed)
Jackie R.
Mandy R.
Steve Shade and Sandy (confirmed)
Paul Mick (confirmed)
Trisha W. and boyfriend (confirmed)
Suzi Bernert and Richard Meadows (confirmed)
Deb Hall
Gary Fox(confirmed)
Bill B and Melissa (confirmed)
Bill Veneman (confirmed)
Tom and Gina Holstein (confirmed)

Since seating is limited at Sake Blue, a group of this size will require that Sohee reconfigure seating arrangements. Therefore, please confirm your plan to attend. Of course, others are most welcome to add their names to the list.

I thought I had replied to this, but perhaps I am wrong. At any rate, please include me if there is room- I will be a few minutes late.
Thanks so much
