Chris:
I, too am quite saddened by your closing. Since moving downtown I had been buying the coffee from the store. I am sooooo going to miss it and you! I just loved the conversation when going thru the drive thru!
Hope someone out there comes up with "an offer you can't refuse" that gets you up and going again soon!

I'm heartbroken. Jackson's Coffee has begun my day for the last two years, and it's irreplaceable. I will miss my trips to the little orange store and my drive-through updates from Christopher. I learned from him.

Good luck Christopher. You're one of the best roasters in town and I hope you will be back at the labor you love with all due speed!

Yeah, we do them at Ray's (cold brewed coffee which makes a great concentrated "toddy" to serve over ice). I haven't fired 'em up yet this year, but with the weather warming I'd better get going!

Mid-80s this weekend. Good time to get the toddy's going. Maybe I'll stop by if you have them.

Sad news but good thing come to those who make it happen and you will rise triumphant once again. While you know I don't drink coffee (call me a freak) I do drink Scotch and have a bottle with your name on it. So lets get together and plan your ascension! You are one of the best!!

Jackson's brewed the best coffee in town, at least in my opinion. I hope you find a new location to set up your roaster soon.

Chris,
Really sorry to hear the news. Not only are you my favorite roaster in town (with some of the best beans, period), but you're one of the nicest guys.
I look forward to your next venture, whatever it is . . . though I hope you stay near.
Hell, anybody got some garage space? Let's start something!
Best to you.

Christopher: Many of us cyclists will miss the Jackson Organic taste every morning. I hope you can reopen somewhere close. I am already starting to have withdrawal and I haven't run out of beans yet. --John

We drink Jackson's Organic at home. I hope it's not too late to get out to the stores and grab every can I can find to get us through until Chris reopens.

In all due respect to Christopher and Sondra, I think everyone needs to have a wait and see attitude on this. Professional breakups like personal ones most often carry a certain amount of bitterness on both sides.

According to Sondra, she will start roasting this week and she indicated she had training with the equipment. Personally I don't know how difficult it is to roast with modern equipment but who knows, maybe she has untapped roasting skills and may not miss a beat.

Lawyer talk always leaves a loophole and changing signs and labels can be quite costly so maybe Sondra does not have a choice about those items right now. The new name is RedHot Roasters by the way, not Roosters.

I always found both Christopher and Sondra very nice and wish them both the best. In the meantime, I plan on buying my beans from Sondra unless the quality is not there. If Christopher reopens somewhere, I will give him my business as well.

As a professional roaster, i can attest that there is a fair amount to learn. I think the analogy to cooking might be decent: you can be trained how to use a stove, and the cookware, but it takes a lifetime to master the art of cooking.

As in all crafts, a good craftsman (craftswoman) needs to stay humble, admit they don't know everything, and continually keep learning and getting better. Most roasters will spend several years roasting and learning before they "turn pro." Just like brewing beer, the craft is a combination of art and science.

I'd be happy to show anyone the roasting process, on large scale equipment, if you're interested. It is truly fun!

Christopher - I've only recently(in the last year) visited the orange business and met you and your coffee. I enjoyed both the chat and your coffee. I hope you work out the new plan and get back at it soon. I'm glad that there will be yet another coffee roaster/shop in the Louisville Area. I really like how they are all different. To me, that's what makes them all good.

PLEASE do keep everyone here posted on your whereabouts.

Any updates? Anyone been to the location of the "artist formerly known as Jacksons"? I'm running low on beans and need to re-up soon...
