I recently had a very good burger at Homerun Burger at Hurstbourne and Taylorsville. I used to love WW Cousins, but haven't been in a couple of years when their service started to decline. La Rosita's also has a good burger, although it is hard to order a burger when you go there.

I and my family love the burgers at Turkey Joe's. Even the kids' burgers are the best around.

The question may be old hat and all the other things you mentioned, but it's also one that's never going to be settled, since tastes differ.

How has WW Cousins declined? It's been a couple of years since I've gotten out there, so I don't know what they've been doing.

We go on occasion, and in my opinion the burgers are still fine and the fixins bar still impressive.

It's the counter service. Over the past couple of years, it has become more and more like McDonald's. With some exceptions, it's randomly sullen, unwelcoming and barely comprehensible. I'm not sure why management isn't more aware of this.

I have not had a very good experience at WW Cousins the last couple of times I've been. Service was poor, my food was lukewarm, and my burger was remarkably average. Many other people still stand by their food, however. I think I'm in the minority.

Talking burgers is never old hat and hopefully people didn't take that to be my point. What I discovered in my quest for Burger heaven here in The Ville is that for every mouth watering review, there is always someone (on some website) claiming the exact opposite (WW Cousins in particular takes some pretty serious hits on other web-review sites). I suppose that is to be expected. What I discovered in my search for the best burgers is pretty much what Josh said "tastes differ". Bottom line is that no matter what a person's tastes, there are some fine burgers out in the metro.

I was impressed by the burger at Joe's Older Than Dirt in Lyndon. (The place with the moose statue out front)

Another vote for Granville. It's my favorite burger anywhere-not just in Louisville.

I've had just about every burger mentioned in this thread...

...but, the best I've had is at TK's pub. I was very surprised, Chef Mickey makes a mean burger, among other things. For 'pub grub', it's about as good as it gets out there. He makes everything from scratch, and has great specials.

The burger is unreal, though!

I had a fantastic burger at Baxter Station the other day. Flanagans also made an awesome KY Bourbon Barrel Ale burger with smoked Gouda for our pint night the other week. I also second the Granville, Back Door, & Turkey Joes.

Mark Head wrote:W. W. Cousins looks like it could be a chain but it's not. It's a local family type place that specializes in burgers. They bake their own bread and have a toppings bar. On balance a really good burger.

The Bristol Bar and Grill at multiple locations serves up a great burger and has a full bar.

The Bambi Bar on Bardstown Road does a "Bambi Burger". More of a neighborhood bar type place.

For a cheap but pretty decent burger I like Resh's Tavern on Eastern Blvd. in Clarksville. Good soup and chili and grilled cheese. This place is an old bar that does a good lunch business for the neighborhood. Plus it's a package liquor store.

Ditto on W.W. Cousins! (Hmmm....now Dittos, I wonder how their burgers are...)

Studio's Grille & Pub in New Albany has a great signature burger.. the stuffed Blue Cheese/bacon or the Cheddar/bacon! the ingredients keep the burger tasty and moist!
