Sportstime Pizza/Rich o's has an excellent mixed green salad. Very simple,dry,non-bitter greens with gr.pepper, tomato & onion. The blue cheese dressing is homemade(I think) for it is served in a ramekin. The others are in packets . I think a small house salad was under 3 bucks when if I would have put it on a fancy plate and fluffed it up high a fine dining restaurant would charge 8.95. They do have a "big salad" but I have never tried it. A Delicious/nutritious bargain if you dare stay away from the beer & pizza.

The Corner Cafe has two amazingly good salads. The Pecan and Brie salad and the Tenderloin Salad.

Don't know if I'd call either diet food, but they are most excellently wondermus.

From their online menu :

Brie & Pecan – Spinach and romaine mix tossed in a poppy seed dressing, topped with warm Brie and spicy seasoned roasted pecans. 10.75

Tenderloin Salad – Marinated and grilled tenderloin sliced thin and served on a bed of tossed salad fixins. Topped with green onions, mandarin oranges and a ginger vinaigrette dressing. 10.95

Neal,

The salads sound wonderful ! But Quiche is far from diet food unless you are making it crustless with half-n-half, or such. Is yours a regular quiche or something appropriate for a lower cal option?

Just my two cents:

These items are vegetarian or vegan. Ask your server SARAH’S GREEK SALAD
Bibb lettuce, feta, tomato, onion, cabbage, kalamata olives and capers with sun-dried tomato vinaigrette $7.25
These items are vegetarian or vegan. Ask your server KATE’S TOSS
Baby spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, red cabbage, carrots, sunflower seeds, and feta cheese with Basil balsamic vinaigrette $7.25
These items are vegetarian or vegan. Ask your server STACEY’S SPINACH SALAD
Apples, avocados, red onion, and walnuts with bleu cheese crumbles and Poppy seed vinaigrette $7.25
These items are vegetarian or vegan. Ask your server BIBB TOSS
Swiss, cheddar, feta, cucumber, red cabbage, tomato, carrots, onion with Basilicata vinaigrette $7.25
Add grilled chicken to any salad $3.50
Add seared tuna to any salad $6.00
Add a hearty scoop of chicken salad $3.25

My favorite is the Stacey's with grilled chicken (when I get the opportunity to have one).

Bon appetit!

ditto's salad's are very good. not only the small dinner salads but the entree salads, too. i used to serve there and the raspberry chicken salad was one of the most popular things on the menu. i had regulars who wouldn't even consider trying another dish. grilled chicken breast, baby greens, sliced strawberries, couscous, almonds, and raspberry viniagrette.
chi mangia bene, viva bene.

amen.

What all is on the Big Salad from City Cafe? That sounds really popular. Are all the locations the same? Thanks!

We use 1/2 & 1/2. As a matter of fact, we only buy 1/2 & 1/2 and 2% milk as we find these allow us to produce a healthier menu item with wonderful results; so no heavy cream or whole milk in the house!

Thanks for allowing me to point that out,
Neal

It's been a while since I've had it so I can't remember everything but I know it has some fresh kale, edamame, and I seem to remember green apple slices, maybe pumpkin seeds? I really like the big salad but it never seems to fill me up for a meal.

Neal,

That's great to know. It's easy for restaurants to make their foods taste great by adding hidden amounts of fatty ingredients ( I know from experience- lots of heavy cream and butter make many things taste great ! :D ). While those are wonderful in moderation, it's great to know that there are truly healthy options out there. Hope you are mentioning this on your menu.

The Big Salad at City Cafe is romaine lettuce, baby spinach, kale ribbons, sprouts, diced fresh tomato, purple onion, carrots, dulse, edamame, diced green apples, pumpkin seeds, toasted almonds with a ginger miso dressing. YUM!!

The menu is the same at all locations, EXCEPT for the daily specials. Those vary by location but can be found on their website.

Couldn't agree more. Just some "wang" to the taste that doesn't agree with my palate. :(

Jenny, here's a review I wrote a while back about some vegetarian options, and it includes a review and picture of the Big Salad at City Cafe:

I love Jason's Deli salad bar! Of course, I love their sammiches, too!
