First- Anthony - thanks for giving it a shot! We really miss having you there. I don't think anything other than the location being just a little too far off the beaten path was a problem. Every time I went there, whether for dinner or for lunch, I and guests thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!!

Second- I still think that the location is viable, but for more of a pub type place with a lower price point and broader appeal. Just the other day my 13 year was talking about how he hoped a burger-ish place opened there.

Lastly- Robin - the guac was delicious!! My wife and I are guilty of having ordered every time we went there and it was available. We also ordered a few seviches- I couldn't ever pass on the ahi. I think that people ordered the guac more because it was very good rather than because they thought it was a mexican restaurant. That does make me ponder though - I always wondered why they started pouring dos equis when they stopped offering Schafly.

Cheers,

Doug

How about Clifton, where there is a preponderance of foodies more than willing to support your work?

Oh, and it seems to be part of the rotation for many East-enders like myself...

The old Danielle's has stood vacant for well over a year ... it looks like a great location, but the long vacancy may spell unreasonable landlord or other invisible problems ...

True. That is a pretty little restaurant. I always got a kick out of the layout, with the bar in between the kitchen and dining room.

Oh! And the signage situation...

I'd love to see something go into the Nio's building. Does anyone know what's happening with it?

I dunno. I ate at Danielle's once, and liked the food, but I found the space to be. . .odd? I don't know. Of course, when we were there Danielle's had just opened, and there were some SERIOUS sun glare issues happening to us, and the restautant hadn't put up shades or anything yet. I just wasn't impressed with the space.

I agree. They did wonders with that space, and it was gorgeous. The bar was breathtaking, and I loved the lounge area in the front. The two different upstairs rooms were pretty cool too.

I hated to see Nio's close.

Hey, what about the space that used to hold that Chinese restaurant on Lower Brownsboro?

By the Subway and Video Shack (or whatever it is called)

I'm not sure of your scale, though. Perhaps Nio's would be a better fit...

You're not talking about Thai Taste (former Spring Deer), are you? It's occupied.

I know that one of the spots Sergios was looking at.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Simply Thai sure draws in a crowd and there are several empty locations around it...St. Matthews is very loyal to all of its restaurants.

I think Big Dave's Outpost location would be great. There's also the old Diamante just down the road if you want something smaller.

Is Azalea's still sitting empty?
