Wild Eggs remains one of the best places in Louisville for breakfast and you are "nit-picking" a restaurant that has been open at that location for only a few weeks. It's like damned if you do and damned if you don't. It's a great Louisville independant restaurant and we need to give it our support, not spend our time commenting on trivial things. Sheesh!!!

David, the tone of your response is out of line for this forum. Please don't do that again.

My heartfelt apologies if I have offended anyone regarding my Wild Eggs comment. I have known much a the management team for a long time and I know the passion they feel it producing great food and making a comfortable seating for their guests.

Sometimes my support for our independant restaurants gets a little carried away, and it hurts me if anyone makes an attack on them.

Again I appologize and will let the matter end.

Thanks

Friends and I stopped by the Westport Village location on Sunday, and were told it was an hour wait....I haven't dined at Wild Eggs yet, and anxious to try them for breakfast; but I'm not waiting for an hour to dine ANYWHERE.

There's nothing I read in the initial post that seemed anything like an attack on Wild Eggs.

Correctamundo. To clarify - and not to pick on David but to reiterate one of the forum's most basic principles: It is ALL RIGHT to post a negative review of a restaurant here, although it is helpful to support the report with specifics, just as it is when we post positive reviews. A well-founded negative review is NOT an "attack."

It's also a good idea to disclose if you have a past history with the restaurant, or a client relationship, or other possible conflict that a neutral observer might want to consider in evaluating your report.

However, I do try to crack down fast on abusive personal attacks among fellow forum participants. That kind of bickering (and worse) can spoil a forum fast.

So, again, knock an eatery if you want to; and respond with debate if you disagree. But do not treat each other in an insulting, incivil fashion.

Frankly, it pleases me that the general membership of the forum is so good about this that I only rarely have to trot out this sermon. But I've given it before, and I'll probably give it again, because it's important.

The wife and i went to the new location on Sunday morning, we were told 40 minutes...it was probably 25. We went to the coffee shop and got some tea so the wait wasn't all that bad.

The food....was outstanding. I got the skillet, she got the burrito, we sampled each others food. Both were out of sight. I could eat at the place every morning. The fresh squeezed oj was expensive but delicious. I could've gotten up to 10 different menu items, tough call, which to me is the mark of a good spot if you struggle to pick an item because they all sound so good.

either way...consider me a huge fan of the operation.

We have visited the Dupont Wild Eggs numerous times and can only remember bad service only once. I love the ACE BLT, as it is probably my favorite sandwich in Louisville. However, I do feel that Toast has a slight edge on service. On the last occasion we made it to Toast, there was a forty minute wait, and after waiting 20 minutes, we decided that we had probably just go somewhere a little faster for lunch due to babysitting issues. The host/owner however, talked us into saying and actually took our order while we stood there so that we could be served shortly after sitting down. The wait as mainly due to the fact that many of the patrons did not want to leave their tables due to the rain/snow that had started falling, so if you do feel that you were rushed, Toast does seem a little more laid back on that account.

Campers!.... aaagghh yes, we experience them too! I think it is just testament to the fact that a patron feels welcomed and un-rushed because of ambiance! It does not help those who are waiting... but we have tried to remedy that by giving the customer who is waiting a discount coupon for waiting past 15 min! towards their next visit!
