Actually I've heard that Uighur (also spelled
Uyghur) cuisine is similar to some aspects of Afghan cuisine (which is kind of a misnomer considering how many ethnic groups live in Afghanistan, but that's a whole 'nother topic). Unfortunately, though, I haven't had the former. There is supposedly a good Uighur restaurant out in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, but I never got a chance to dine at it before I left New York.
