I like the green river style fish sandwich at The Fish House on Winter.

Good tarter sauce too. I did my fries in it.

I have to cast my vote for Stan's Fish Sandwich also.

Steve,

Thank you for the clarification...and you are correct...What I'm looking for something more "English Style". To be more to the point, we've got "company" coming in the next couple of weeks and one of our guests LOVES English style "fish and chips". So in an attempt to "show off" our fair city I want to find a place that will just blow his doors off. :D

I know what you mean. I love a good beer battered fish sandwich and I love to put that malt vinegar all over the fish and the chips. If you find a good rockin place that serves it up, I would love to know. I get a taste for that sometimes.

Does anyone know if the fish at Mike Linning's is cornmeal breaded? I'm not a huge fish fan, so I'm not 100% sure. If the weather is nice, there's definitely no better place to people watch!

I have actually heard that about Flanagan's again and again. I have to get down there and try it. Also heard they have a great Rueben, I think?

The fish sandwich is good and I have yet to try the reuben. I keep getting distracted by the murphy melt and whatever the burger specials are the nights I go up there.

Having worked at The Irish Rover in the past, I've heard approximately 1 gazillion people describe their beer battered fish and chips the best in the region. Of course they have malt vinegar on every table ~ and I always loved slabbing on a little Coleman's mustard, which also goes nicely on the soda bread that they have delivered daily from Breadworks.

Mike Linnings has a surprising good sandwich with huge pieces of fish, but not "English" style. Irish Rover may be the best bet for that.
Is that English Pub still at 4th street? It might have something.
