Yes, and it's not coming back ( I talked to the Manager). I'm very sad- it was my go-to place for a number of ingredients and some excellent salami's.

Ironically, I was over there earlier today (in search of adult beverages) and walked through that area, but evidently didn't pay much attention to the deli itself and was not aware it had closed...too bad. :(

Darren, the proprietor, is from Brooklyn and the pizza, although no Grimaldis or Joes, is still darn good. The drive took about thirty minutes, and I don't know if I would drive just for the pizza. However, Frascelli's seems like a nice place and they have live music every Friday and Saturday nights. The deli was mediocre and I do believe Lotsa Pasta is infinitely better. I still can't get fresh buffalo mozarella...................I did drive down Covered Bridge Road into Prospect which was just beautiful. What a beautiful area. When it's time to buy a house, this would be great area. Thanks

Phil...

You might contact the "Liquor Barn", off Westport Road (near the Snyder Freeway)...they have a deli and gourmet food section that includes a sizable array of cheeses...no guarantee they'll have Buffalo Mozzarella, but it might be worth a phone call...another option would be "Fresh Market" on Shelbyville Rd., in Middletown....

John,

The deli at the Liquor Barn (Westport) is no longer there, it was removed (I believe) to make room for a "tasting area". The cheese, etc is still where it always was.

My first day in Louisville I drove over to Lotsa Pasta and asked for Buffalo Moz. The dude looked at me kinda of weird, and told me they didn't carry it. In my Woody Allen way, I felt ashamed and embarassed, thinking I sounded like a pretentious jerk. I slinked out of the place and sheepishly drove home. I will check out "Creative" downtown. Are they open on Saturdays? By the way, we are heading to the Kentucky Center tonight and tomorrow night for some events. Is there any place besides Proof that serves late? Thanks. Phil

Creation Gardens is open until 2:00 on Saturdays. They supply restaurants, so it is a wholesale atmostphere, but they are open for retail sales as well. They only take cash and checks. It is at the corner of Hancock and Main. Enjoy! And I loved your Woody Allen reference.

Hey Guys, we did shut down the slice and dice deli at the Springhurst location to make room for a couple of projects.

First is a tasting/sampling/education area with an attached bar for all tastings/samplings/events. The weekly liquor/wine/beer/food tastings had kind of "outgrown" the small set up tables on Friday and Saturday so this will help us taste more and provide more room for customers to enjoy it.

Second we are ripping out the old growler system that exists now, replacing all existing parts/lines etc and building a new 42 handle system that will feature a smorgasborg of fine craft beer for growler fill up and sampling. It will have most local beers, hard to find, draft only beers or one-offs and other tasty beer from around the US and across the pond.

Having said that...we will still have a kitchen/prep area upstairs that will still function in a slice and dice capacity when needed. We have already started a list of hard to find salami's and german meats that will be available to our customers. We get a lot of german couples who are looking for these items and people who can't live without certain salami's.

So...if you just let them, or hey, let me know...we'll get whatever you want and have it ready for you hopefully when you need it.

We made a very hard decision to move away from Boar's head daily slice and dice and focus on great Cheese's, Olives, Crackers, Coffee, Tea, frozen foods, gourmet sodas, etc all things we sell a lot of and do very well with.

If you need anything in particular...don't hesitate to contact me.
