Westport General Store will be closed today due to snow. We had power, lost it and now it is back- I hope to stay.

<crossed fingers knocking on wood>

We still have power in my area of the Highlands.

Would like to hear a report from Lou Lou Deux or Dundee Tavern. The plan is to trudge up there tonight, if they're open...

Holiday Manor Kroger is open. Tony, my butcher, said both Hubbards (as previously reported) and dirty Kroger are down. He was confident in his stock, as well, commenting that they order up for these events.

I posted this in the "road conditions" thread, but thought it belonged here as well.

I did not cover all of Old Louisville, but the Brook/1st Street area is not pretty. Brook, 1st, and Ormsby (south of Oak) all have trees/power lines in the roads. Brook(north of Oak) is impassable due to lines (at least that was the case at 10:30am). 1st just south of Ormsby is also impassable.

As I said in my other post, it is like a corn maze without an exit. I kept running into the same elderly couple, turning around every 5 minutes. I felt badly for them, but did not know what assistance to offer.

As roads are blocked due to trees/lines, many of the roads have become two-way.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.

I saw this on Roger Baylor's blog and wanted to pass it on to here:

NABC will be open at noon on Wednesday the 28th (Sportstime side).
Update:

Kate and Jesse are in the building (no power outage), and enough of the crew can be rounded up to open for business at noon, pizza side only. I'll provide updates later, but for now, there is food and beer on Plaza Drive from noon on.

Both Lou Lous are closed for lunch and - fingers crossed, barring power outages - we'll be open at both locations for dinner. Be safe on your way!

Ray's Monkey House Coffeeshop has full power and`operating as normal.

We have grilled cheese/avocado sandwiches and homemade hearty vegetable soup on the menu. Besides plenty of hot coffee and tea drinks (or beer/wine if you're slacking today).

I live two blocks away (Deerwood Ave) and my backyard has a tree down from one side to the other (landed on the neighbor's garage). Bummer. But the massive tree in Ray's backyard has survived (whew)....

Good luck to all through this...

Well, because my power just went out (at least I got a good night sleep and don't have to work today, right?) I can tell you that Highland coffee is open. Although they're near capacity, some chairs are still open and people are sharing tables. I'm anxious to find out what else is open.

I feel very lucky to have been able to move my car from it's space considering there was a huge fallen branch on the hood. It took a lot of determination to get out from under it. No broken windshield!

Brownsboro/Springhurst Kroger ( across from the Summit) is both open and fully stocked. We have power, but had no cable/phone/internet until noon. We've lost several large pieces off the trunk of our large River Birch and worried about our huge Bradford Pear, but so far we are far better off than some of our neighbors. I'm thankful that we are warm and safe ( and that we have a sledding hill in walking distance :)

We just drove up Bardstown Road to Clifton. Bardstown Road for the most part looks good and the roads are fine if you drive like a sane person would. I noticed O'Sheas was open for business. (my hubbie wouldnt stop) :(

Varanese Restaurant does currently have electricity and we do plan to open this evening. This would be a great night to enjoy a half price bottle of wine to help stay warm.

Be carefull about sledding. the Metro is not allowing sledding in the parks because of the potential of falling tree limbs....

That makes sense. Thanks Suzi. I decided to spend the afternoon indoors, snuggled with Jackson instead.

It's treacherous out there.

I live in Woodlawn Park near Westport Road/Hubbards Lane.
Our electricity went out at 3am Wednesday morning.
I could hear crashing all night.
This morning, I packed up my daughter and my dogs and went to my Sister's house.
There were many, many trees down in Woodlawn Park, and more that looked like they could crash down at any moment.
Dropped off my frozen foods/milk at my mom's. She lives at Masonic Home Village.
Driving down Westport Road, there was no electricity at the stop light at Westport/Hubbards.
Looked down the street that runs next to Target, like you're going to Big Lots. The railroad arms were in the down position.
The Speedway station by the railroad tracks was closed.
There were a lot of limbs down at Masonic Home Village.
Continuing on down Frankfort Avenue towards my sister's house, you could only use one lane going west on Frankfort, because the right lane was snow covered and trees were hanging over the lane. Had to cross the center line a couple of times to avoid hitting overhanging trees.
The actual driving was okay, just had to watch out for trees.
Turning onto the side street in Crescent Hill where my sister lives, the street was still snow-covered. Parked in front of my sister's house, got the dogs and the daughter, walked onto my sister's front porch. At that moment, heard a noise, and the next door neighbor's tree came crashing down, pulling down the cable and phone lines; possibly power lines as well, but my sister still has power, just no cable. You could probably have heard us screaming! I know my skittish greyhound was thinking-"THIS is where you brought me to be safe????"
I am at work now, downtown at 6th and Market. Driving down Frankfort Avenue, there is power as far as Osaka (and they are open), but then once you passed Osaka, there is no power all the rest of the way down Frankfort Avenue, turning left onto Story Avenue there is no power, and turning right onto Main Street there is no power until you get right around Slugger Field. The streets are totally clear, though, on Frankfort, Story, and Main.
