I live in Woodlawn Park near Westport Road/Hubbards Lane.
Our electricity went out at 3am Wednesday morning.
I could hear crashing all night.
This morning, I packed up my daughter and my dogs and went to my Sister's house.
There were many, many trees down in Woodlawn Park, and more that looked like they could crash down at any moment.
Dropped off my frozen foods/milk at my mom's. She lives at Masonic Home Village.
Driving down Westport Road, there was no electricity at the stop light at Westport/Hubbards.
Looked down the street that runs next to Target, like you're going to Big Lots. The railroad arms were in the down position.
The Speedway station by the railroad tracks was closed.
There were a lot of limbs down at Masonic Home Village.
Continuing on down Frankfort Avenue towards my sister's house, you could only use one lane going west on Frankfort, because the right lane was snow covered and trees were hanging over the lane. Had to cross the center line a couple of times to avoid hitting overhanging trees.
The actual driving was okay, just had to watch out for trees.
Turning onto the side street in Crescent Hill where my sister lives, the street was still snow-covered. Parked in front of my sister's house, got the dogs and the daughter, walked onto my sister's front porch. At that moment, heard a noise, and the next door neighbor's tree came crashing down, pulling down the cable and phone lines; possibly power lines as well, but my sister still has power, just no cable. You could probably have heard us screaming! I know my skittish greyhound was thinking-"THIS is where you brought me to be safe????"
I am at work now, downtown at 6th and Market. Driving down Frankfort Avenue, there is power as far as Osaka (and they are open), but then once you passed Osaka, there is no power all the rest of the way down Frankfort Avenue, turning left onto Story Avenue there is no power, and turning right onto Main Street there is no power until you get right around Slugger Field. The streets are totally clear, though, on Frankfort, Story, and Main.
