I was born in New Orleans and lived until my late 20s in rural Louisiana. Nobody there agrees on King Cakes. (My personal favorite is Rouse's Supermarket, which my friends in New Orleans hated. (Haydel's Bakery in New Orleans was supposed to be the best, and I hated it!)

The best way to find the best King Cake is to try them all and choose your favorite. I did not know any bakery in Louisville made these--I guess I'm going to have to try them...or hope that my mom will FedEx me a Rouse's cake for Mardi Gras.
