Hi Doug:

I'm a professor at Centre (if your daughter is interested in chemistry, medicine or volcanoes in New Zealand tell the admissions office you want to talk to me) and your dining options are fairly limited. There is a new Mexican restaurant, La Fiesta Grande, which the school paper rated higher than the Guadalajaras. I've eaten there and it's OK. I have only eaten at Suttons once and it, too, was OK. Your other options are O'Charleys and Applebees. The previous suggestions for Shakertown are good ones. You can get excellent sandwiches at the Hub on Main Street which is connected to the College Bookstore. Good luck with the college search.

Doug,

I lived in Danville for fourteen years and still have many friends there. When I lived there I mostly drove to Lexington or Louisville for dinner out. I haven't noticed any improvements when I have visited recently, but I did email several of my friends to ask about dining "gems."

I think this reply best sums up the situation, "Hidden gems? Not that I know of. There is a place open on 4th street (4th Street Deli) where the soup and sandwich are pretty good, they are also open for dinner. There's a new place on the by-pass, where we had lunch recently, not so good. The Hub coffee shop is pretty good for lunch. Beaumont now has the Owl Tavern for casual dining and Shakertown has liquor license but food is disappointing. O'Charley's is the most reliable but certainly not "a gem" Your best bet--Beaumont when it reopens."
