Chocolate lovers, give Coco's Chocolate Cafe a try - on Bardstown Rd near Speed (ex-bicycle shop). That guy (Fred, I think?) seems to know what he's doing.

I have to second this. I got my secretary a big 'ol basket from Coco's for Christmas, and now I'm in her good-favors for the next year. I tried a few for myself, and was not disappointed (though I'm by no means a chocolate expert - a Reese's Cup now and again puts a smile on my face).

I may have to stop by and see what delights I can find for the hubby and I to have on Valentine's Day.

Our favorite chocolate comes from Ben Heggy's Candy Co. in Canton Ohio. A family ran business since 1923, they hand make many varieties of old fashioned dark and milk chocolate candies. My grandfather "ran" with Ben back in "the day" and Becky and I attended H.S. with some of his grandchildren. This is AWESOME chocolate. Check out their website...

I am not a fan of the Scharrfen Berger for whatever reason. However. Vosges is the real deal.

The best truffles and such that I know are from Coco Rouge in Chicago - it's by far my favorite chocolate on the planet - but very expensive. If you visit Chicago, this place on Division in Wicker Park is a must visit. (Oh, another shop in Chicago with tons of gourmet chocolates of various brands to choose from is a small sandwich shop in the Loop called Hannah's Bretzel. They do pretzel bread sandwiches with organic ingredients and toppings + carry a wide assortment of various chocolate brands. A crazy combo I know).

A place I know does mail order that is also very good with truffles is Candinas Chocolatier in Madison, WI. Yummie.

I came across these incredible bars in Dublin last year - Butler's chocolate. Lo and behold, I'm in Liquor Barn one day and I happen to be in the chocolate aisle when I look down to see the last two remaining bars from a box next to other imports. A return trip revealed no sign of Butler's, so if anyone knows where to get some, I'd appreciate it!

Is anyone a fan of Milka? I used to get their cookies and cream bars when I lived in Paris. I think they are discontinued, but the milk chocolate is equally sublime.

I have to go with Valrhona. My favorite is the 71% bar.
