I was a little surprised but since I was sure we'd go or know before the deadline of a couple of days before it was not a big problem. I think the charge for stiffing would have been a "C" note. Given the size of the place & these times I can't really slam them for it. Don't know if that is usual policy as normally our selection criteria for a place to eat is calling from a list of about 300 local places sort of in order of preference and going to the first one without a wait. Great meal, BTW.
See, again, I have no problem with NYE, and I agree with the poster above about people making reservations at multiple places and then showing up for one. I've been slightly guilty of that in the past (I can't get the group I'm organizing the dinner with to decide whether they want upscale, mid-range, etc.), but at least I always cancel the unused reservation a day or two in advance. I think having CC reservations for Derby, holidays, and any time that people are fighting for reservations. But January 11? No reason for it, and if I can I might take the oppotunity to tell Rivue management that a lot of people here seem to be in agreement with me that the policy is enough to give pause to many as to whether they really want to eat there.
