Re: Rivue - Credit Card # required for reservations?

Lonnie Turner wrote:A couple of weeks before the day my wife & I gave a credit card for a reservation for two at Jack Fry's for NYE. I was a little surprised but since I was sure we'd go or know before the deadline of a couple of days before it was not a big problem. I think the charge for stiffing would have been a "C" note. Given the size of the place & these times I can't really slam them for it. Don't know if that is usual policy as normally our selection criteria for a place to eat is calling from a list of about 300 local places sort of in order of preference and going to the first one without a wait. Great meal, BTW.

See, again, I have no problem with NYE, and I agree with the poster above about people making reservations at multiple places and then showing up for one. I've been slightly guilty of that in the past (I can't get the group I'm organizing the dinner with to decide whether they want upscale, mid-range, etc.), but at least I always cancel the unused reservation a day or two in advance. I think having CC reservations for Derby, holidays, and any time that people are fighting for reservations. But January 11? No reason for it, and if I can I might take the oppotunity to tell Rivue management that a lot of people here seem to be in agreement with me that the policy is enough to give pause to many as to whether they really want to eat there.

I am currently in the process of correcting the credit card requirement on Open Table. It is not our policy to require credit card confirmation for a reservation for a table of two. We do ask for credit card confirmation for tables of twelve and larger with RIVUE. Now having stated that, if a reservation for 20 shows with 18 we certainly would not enforce that policy. If a party of 20 showed with 5, we most likely would.

I do apologize for the confusion and hope for the matter to be corrected by end of business Wednesday, 1/7/09.

Sincerely,

Thanks for the clarification, Thad, and glad to hear it was just a glitch with OpenTable and not your policy. I had planned on clarifying that when we dine there on Saturday, but you beat me to the punch.

Looking forward to trying RIVUE for the first time.
