It was GREAT! I'm holding the details for next week's Voice-Tribune review, but we had lengua tacos and pastor tacos and a giant mound of wonderful carnitas and Mary had a whole fried fish. The people are very nice, and their young son, who has perfect English and helps serve the tables, was amazing. We loved that place.

Robin,

Glad to hear it. I have been telling everyone I can about this place. I love the people, food, and atmosphere. I hope the (soon to be) popularity doesn't change it.

I finally got around to checking this place out, took my family over there tonight, and had a great time. I had 3 tacos(chorizo, pastor, tongue), mom and sis had chicken tortas, my dad had some tacos, even ordered a brain taco, and it was actually very good. Everything I tried was delicious and the people were really nice. I'll definitely be back, I forgot the chicharonnes!

If you haven't been yet, go!

Adam,
Glad to here it went well. I love this place and the people and hope it does well. With the support of the Mexican and HotBytes community I think it will.

It had been a few months since my last visit to My Patria this Sun. and they have made some pretty major changes. They moved out one row of groceries and added additional counter/bar type seating, 2 pool tables, a jukebox, and about 6 Mexican beers.

I'll have to admit, pool tables in a grocery/taqueria is a unique idea.

Buy some chicharrón, play a little nine-ball (or should I say nueve bolas).

I don't have any children, but is it okay if I pack up a bunch of Capt'n Crunch and Pop Tarts and bring about 12 kids along to take up all the tables there? Because I'll be mad if it's not okay.

Just bring in some Taco Bell or Qdoba. It's all "mexican", right?

Yeah, and the kids like Taco Bell so much better, and I can't get them to like anything else. Eat it, Mexican restaurant owners!

I might take some of Capt'n Crunch for dessert. It would go nicely with some hashish foam. Where is Stevie D when you need him? Maybe you two should get together, Capt'n Crunch cake w/ hashish foam and an absinthe based cocktail.

I think I'll forgo the Cap'n and the Absinthe and just have two heaping helpings of Hashish Foam...off the kids menu of course. This assuming that it is LOCAL hashish foam...None of that foreign Lebanese sh**.

As long as we're jacking around here I have a REAL problem I'm dealing with. I just painted the floor in the basement utility room and only after I was done did I remember that the utility room contains the fridge that contains the beer. To further complicate things I've already HAD three Barley pops, so I'm probably not really-really...as in legally...OK to drive. Any suggestions ?

Write that down, you'll have it for next time.
