I loved the fresh-squoze ginger beer at the Jamaican place! I can't remember if it was before or after Lynn's. After, I think.

After, I think. I'm pretty sure Lynn's was the first restaurant in the space.

I think you're right, too. The Jamaican place (I regret that I can't recall it's name ... Blue something?) may have been the next to move in. Little Bit of Seoul was quite a bit later.

I think Oldham County could really benefit from a couple of restaurants that offer quality breakfasts, on par w/Lynn's...aside from Cracker Barrel or Waffle House, there are very few options in the OC for full-service breakfast/brunch on a daily basis (Norma Jean's may still be open for daily breakast??, and Irish Rover Too offers a very good Saturday Brunch -- on Saturday)....

I also loved the ginger beer. I havn't found anything else to replace it. And they used to have a curry buffet and great samosa's. Why can't I think of the name of that place?

I still think it was Blue something. Blue Lagoon? That doesn't feel quite right. I wonder if Lynn Winter would know.

Please ask. It is one of those things that will bother me until I remember.

Sorry to bring up such an old thread, but I finally found the name of the restaurant. It was The Caribbean Gourmet.

Insider POV, WOW, this place rocks!! We have a distinct line of job functions, cook, prep, (hot and cold) dish, purchasing agent, waitron, etc. Everyone has their place and there is a place for everything. Mgmt is good and the place runs smoothly. I have worked high volume places in Santa Cruz, CA, and Atlanta GA, but this place takes the cake. We run a tight ship, and the kitschy part of the place is a great sideline. Anyway, I personally can vouch for the quality of the various sauces and sides, making them in 5 gal increments, or 10 lb batches, of this or that. It is a good system and it works. I am proud to be part of the production line 8) .

Not in the UK, maybe in other parts of Europe. The great British Fry Up consists of bacon, sausages, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans (read pork n beans) and fried bread.

(even though this was posted 2 yrs ago) My mom wrote that recipe - bourbon ball french toast - when she worked for Lynn in the nineties (never credited, except by me a few times on this forum). Sorry for the derail - this probably belongs in the "Creative License" thread... Didn't realize until this that I had anything to contribute to that one until now... be right back...

I think Lynn's is a fun place to take out-of-towners for breakfast or brunch on a Sunday. I've never eaten there for dinner. I think the food is good but I think most people go for the atmosphere. It's just a fun place to go and grab a filling bite at. Does Lynn's ever have any restaurant coupons?

Norma Jean's closed their doors a while ago, just couldn't get enough volume. I worked as the chef there for a while and it was always a struggle. They lasted a year and a half after I left, I believe which would put them closing in 2009-or early 2010, I think, but am not sure. It is hard for anyone in downtown Lagrange to make it, weekends were busy but the weeknights were like a ghost town.
I also worked part-time at Lynn's as the omelet cook years ago and found the food to be good for comfort food, but way over priced in my humble opion. It was also not the cleanest kitchen at the time I worked there. I know they have very high turnover in the kitchen, so consistency has always been an issue.
