There's a diner in Snood, Tx (yes, an actual town in Tx.) that serves Chicken-Fried Bacon. For those who aren't familiar with the term "Chicken- Fried"; that's anything dredged in seasoned flour, then dipped into an egg & milk wash, then dredged again in the flour then deep-fried. What we call Country-Fried Steak around here is called Chicken-Fried Steak back home.
That said, this place in Snood uses 6 strips of thick-cut, very lean center-cut bacon and slightly shingles the bacon into a rectangular slab; then it is frozen. Now you take that frozen slab of bacon dredge it in the flour, then egg wash, back through the flour & throw it into the deep-fryer. Cook until GBD. Slather on the Country Gravy and serve.

Bacon flavored drinks

Unorthodox: Don Yovicsin, owner of Jake’s Dixie Roadhouse in Waltham, Massachusetts
makes his own bacon-flavored vodka, which has become a huge hit in Bloody Marys, he says.

Good luck this time around Hank, when I posted the Old Fashioned link a few months ago it was pooh poohed rather soundly. It still sounds interesting to me and I hear from a friend that the bacon infused bourbon turned out really well. I mean really- bacon and bourbon- how can it be bad?

Gary, I forgot that you posted about the bacon Old Fashioned some time ago.

I should have done a search first and found that I was sort of repeating the bacon vodka post as well. DOH!

I didn't say that to diss you at all Hank. I really do think that in this world of creative "martinis" these new infusions should be considered.
