I am in talks now with the Committee about it. There will be a test round in China. Of course I am pretty busy fishing the Ohio for Snapper and Salmon and may not be able to attend.

Ok, here's a one time offer, I use to be good at golf and I'm willing to be a caddy. I'll even pay my own way to China to see that!

My humble property is blessed with three hearty Walnut trees that we often use to make pie or when there is a bumper crop, play golf with. Chef Howie, while trying to steal recipes and future expansion plans, evidently secretly video taped my Walnut golf session ala Bill Belichick . I am affronted that a man can not privately play with his walnuts. I only hope the tape does not surface.

had a great lunch today at Corbett's, sat on the porch
between the four of us, three had the $20 special
(apps were a tomato soup and a salad, entres were the london broil sand, ahi tuna melt, or the salmon, desserts were chocolate pound cake or cherry bread pudding)
my wife ordered the KY bibb salad and meatloaf, both of which were fantastic, the hericort verts could have been seasoned a little more and the wife prefers a spicier sauce on the meatloaf, but still great
the rest of us had salads from the special, except one who our waiter brought a lovely cheese sampler to (not by our request BTW)
i had the salmon, which was perfect
we also had the tuna melt and the londron broil at the table which were also top notch (even though our guest had the broil done med well, it was incredibly tender)
the desserts finished a lovely afternoon, and we were delighted to have the waiter again go above and beyond the call of duty by providing my wife with an assortment of sweet treats (even though she didn't order dessert)
1 beer, 3 teas, 3 specials, a salad and an entre ended at around 100 before a tip of 25

fantastic way to enjoy Corbett's without breaking the bank
and a great way to share lunch with a couple of our employees

After the lunch the forum had offline today, I would say the service has kicked it up a notch or 2. Lunch was long and leisurely, but in my opinion missed nary a step. My mom gave it a 10. Robin, your thoughts.

I thought it was a great gathering and that Corbett's showed well. All that being said, if I were to go into Critic Mode, I'd have to say that service was on the slow side of leisurely (with the caveat that one guy serving a table of 14 is under quite a load); and that my particular menu choices were good but perhaps not quite as stellar as I've hit on other days. I went with the cracker-crumb chicken entree rather than the prix fixe because it interested me, but was a little disappointed in that it lacked the excitement factor that I usually expect at Corbett's. I thought the bean and wild mushroom soup was excellent for its flavor and intensity, but both Mary and I thought it was over-salted.

Don't mean to sound picky, and I continue to HIGHLY recommend Corbett's as one of the top places in town (and the lunch makes it nicely affordable). And as I said, as a social event, it was fantastic. But this was about the fourth time I've lunched there recently, and on the basis of my food choices alone, it wasn't my favorite.
