Hmm ... maybe you have to be a regular? I get masala dosa. Mary Anne gets masala dosa. :)

This is only at lunch, I think, but every time I've been there for the buffet, they bring around samples of South Indian goodies like masala dosa, iddlies and that tangy buttermilk drink.

What you talkin' about?

Someone owes me a masala dosa.

Oh yes, Mary Anne always loves her masala dosa...I think it isn't a regular's only thing though, they take them to all the tables...unless maybe we are all regulars...I get other samples too. :D I'm heading to Dakshin for lunch today, I'll take note of who gets the dosa and who doesn't!

We have been 3 times for dinner.
Once for the lunch buffet.

I tip well, I assure you.

I have never ever gotten samples of anything.

Hmmmm. DakShin was full today, I took note, everyone got the Masala Dosa brought to their table. The people that came in and sat behind us ordered off the menu (I didn't know you could do that at lunch) and got the biggest freaking Dosa I've ever seen brought to their table. VeeJay the server laughed at us as our jaws dropped when he walked by with this thing. It was huge! Like an extra extra large pizza...extra large! I dunno why Leah hasn't been in on the dosa deal. I only have been there for the lunch buffet, but every time I've gone I've gotten at least the dosa and usually have been offered the buttermilk drink and other goodies on occasion. Also, don't know if you've noticed, but they have started giving out frequent lunch cards like at Shalimar :D

I had my first opportunity last week to try out Bombay Grill and I thought it was great. The service was very good and the food was just amazing for a buffet. However, what I noticed most of all was how fresh they kept the food. Several times the staff would come out and remove from the trays of food any items that had been there too long or looked less than perfect. I, for one, have eaten at several buffets only to find the food dry and unpalatable because of how long it had sat under the heat lamps. I don't know if these establishments are trying to just get rid of their food or if they haven't trained their staff properly, but Bombay Grill was a pleasant change.

P.S. I also got the freebies.

We tried the Bombay Grill about a month or so ago. As soon as we left, I called my sister and both of my nephews to tell them to get over there! The food was really good, and a little different than what you get at Kashmir, even if it is the same dish. The nan was the best I've ever had. The servers were really friendly and they seemed to be happy and smiling (also a little different from Kashmir).

I'll definitely have to give it a shot sometime then. I do love Kashmir's food, but even though I know a number of the staff by name now, they're never cheerful.

Kashmir's sort of known for general surliness. It part of their "charm." :?

Seems that there are number of quality Indian tables around town these days. I have yet to try many of them out. I do, though, have a weak spot for Kashmir's charm.
