the KY laws governing wine in grocery stores decreases the probability that we'll see a trader's or a jungle jims in louisville,
although maybe they'll come to the sunny side

The law doesn't seem to have slowed down Whole Foods from having in wine department, they just had to be a little creative. If TJ or JJ really want to have a Louisville presence they'll just be creative.

You'll be waiting even longer . . . it's only "two buck" west of the Rockies.

Actually, only in California, I believe.

IT NEEDS TO BE DOWNTOWN!!!

I guess I don't get this. I LOVE TJ's and grew up going to one in Tucson where I'm from. The one I went to was on the north end of "town" (actually out of city limits) in an area just like the East End. It is also in a building that used to be a safeway grocery store and fit perfectly. I would be sooo happy if they put one here. Though I do agree with another poster about how they would sell their very good, and inexpensive wine here. I guess another separate entry. (the whole no wine, no liquor in the store thing totally throws me here.)

What, exactly, is the reasoning behind not selling wine/booze in a grocery store? Walgreens/Rite Aid/ CVS can all sell it, why not Kroger?

Rumor has it that the beer distributing lobby pays well to "protect" us from the demon alkyhol in close proximity to groceries. Beer, of course, is different ...

I believe it has passed the $2 mark in California as well.... 4 Buck Chuck just does not have the same ring to it as 2 Buck Chuck....

the whole foods wine shop cost a huge chunk of change and is just and extra investment which many companies would not want to make, especially if they can put a store in southern indiana without the hassle of building a separate entity adjacent to their store

Wow! I really didn't expect a simple sentence like it needs to be downtown to get reactions like eyes rolling! I just simply meant that it would feel the definite need of a decent grocery type store downtown. The East End has Whole Foods, Fresh Market, Rainbow Blossom, and lots of fancier kroger stores. It just seemed like they could fill a definite void in the downtown area.

Honestly if anything like that were to go in downtown I would hope it would be Rainbow Blossom since it's a local chain. I'd take any of them as it would be closer to me though.

Nope, it won't go downtown, there aren't trees to tear down there. It definitely needs to go out east by the Gene Snyder somewhere, that area needs a few more parking lots.

That's not TJ's style. They find a vacant location (usually an old grocery store) that they can get a very reasonable rent to keep their overhead down. I don't believe I've ever seen one move into a new space.

That's good; I like that. I was commenting more on what has unfortunately been Louisville's style in the past decade. I'm happy to see all the downtown development that's been taking place too though.

I would love if a TJ came to Louisville. The Old Winn Dixie on Breckenridge would have been a good spot, but Hobby Lobby scooped it up. Shucks! (Although, I have to say that Hobby Lobby can be fun too.)

Actually, I was at the one on 86th in Indy a week ago and it was close to 2 Buck Chuck at $2.99 a bottle. I have to tell you my favorite snack item from there has to be the pretzel nuggets with peanut butter inside. Real Simple magazine does a "best of" article and they recommended them a while back and they're addictive!

Plus when fresh basil is out of season, you can't beat their Pesto Genovese - excellent for a quick meal.

Here is the latest I got on the whole Trader Joe's rumor, it is going in at the Brownsboro Inn location (will be torn down)
Where there was supposed to be a Fresh market. Instead, they signed Trader Joe's.

I got this from a reliable source, the boys barber in Brownsboro Center. (across the street from location).

I was shocked, because they had a meeting in May (which I missed) but after that I was told that Fresh Market is a done deal, now I hear Trader Joe's
