Wow - if you can find a better place to find multiple types of rice (and jasmine in large bags for little money) or the variety of non-tradition veggies, I'll gladly follow you there!
Sorry to arrive here and immediately stick both hands up to the elbows in a hornet's nest. Really, not trying to be contrary, nor harshing on popular things just because they're popular (although I admit I may have been blinded in that regard with respect to VK, above).
I've gotten bulk rice from the Korean market on Preston and was generally happy with their selection and prices. I haven't comparison shopped much since I'm still on my first bag -- living alone, 20 pounds of rice can last a good long time. As for exotic produce, I've gotten daikon from the Korean market and various herbs and birds-eye chilis from the Vietnamese market about a block north of the Valu. At some point I'm going to be on the lookout for mountain potato, but I think that too I have a better shot at at the Korean market than at the Valu Market. More pedestrian produce I haven't shopped for much at the Valu Market -- for lettuce I honestly find Kroger's better (really, nobody's more surprised than me), and I haven't tried to get other produce at the Valu yet.
