I'd been thinking the same thing and was surprised nobody else had brought it up. I figured the dogs were either exceptionally good and worth the price or that everyone that was eating them had way too much disposable income (probably didn't drive). Maybe when the novelty wears off and competition opens the prices will drop to a reasonable level.

I think I'll wait till I'm in Chicago to get my lips and a$$ fix.
Dogs are so cheap... How can anyone justify selling them (even the 1/4lb.) for more than $2.50???
I mean I can get a bison burger from Cumberland for a buck seventy five more (that's with fries) or 2 blue cheese burgers (on 2 for Tuesdays) from Monkey Wrench for not much more.
Where's the value? Hot dogs are cheap food, like slices of pizza. This isn't New York or even Chicago. This is Louisville and a dog and chips and soda should not cost $6.50...

Mike, I'm looking at a Lonnie's menu, and I'm afraid there's not much hope for vegetarians there. At least nothing in the way of a veggie dog on the menu. There are a lot of dishes other than hot dogs, but they all seem to be carnivorous: Polish and Italian sausage, hamburgers, Italian beef and corned beef, wings and gyros, catfish and a fish sandwich and shrimp. They have daily special plates, but again, it's things like hot dogs on Monday, Polish sausage Tuesday, etc. Wednesday offers a soul food hot plate for $7.99, but in light of the above, I don't think you can count on it being vegetarian. I'd guess that even the collards are made with ham hock.
