Well, guys, it was really tough to avoid the lure of IHOP, but I made it to Kansai yesterday. I didn't like it enough to go back, so I appreciate all the other suggestions.

Brian, I passed by the J Train. The sign says "J Train Pizza and Pub".

Thanks to Mike, I also stopped by the Cup of Sunshine Teahouse to check out their menu. (I would have stayed, but I had already talked myself into sushi by that time). I will definitely check this place out. From the looks of the menu, this is just my kind of place. They have a PB Mixer-raw carrots, celery, apple slices served with organic peanut butter and crackers; Hummus Plate-hummus served with a wide variety of raw veggies and your choice of crackers, wheat toast, or pita; steamed veggies; a couple of salads; a veggie wrap-organic spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and "any other veggies that happen to be fresh today!"; bean and cheese burrito; tuna wrap; "chicken" or "steak"-grilled and seasoned soy strips wrapped with organic spinach, avocado slices, and pepper rings; Better Than Elvis sandwich-peanut butter, banana slices, and honey on wheat toast; grilled cheese and tomato sandwich; black bean burger, salmon burger (when available); peanut butter and jelly sandwich; veggie pita pizza; happy dog (soy dog); lentils, with or without rice. "For our carnivore friends", chicken salad sandwich, grilled chicken salad, or grilled chicken wrap.
Now that I'm down to the bottom of the menu, it says they have a website http://www.acupofsunshine.com, where you can check out the daily special or soup of the day. Then, there's a whole page of specials. It appears that they have a vegetarian brunch on Sunday 12-2 pm, vegetarian lasagna on Monday, Veggi Meat Loaf on Thursday, and Teriyaki salmon fillet on Friday (dinner specials after 3 pm). On Fridays, they have lunch specials of salmon burgers, tuna salad, and tuna melt.
The menu also lists an entire page of teas.
Spring hours are Mon-Thurs 11am-8pm, Fri-Sat 11am-9pm, Sun 12-7pm

I wrote down the rest of the list, and I'll check them out soon. Next Wednesday, though, my plan is for Cup of Sunshine, and I'll let you know how it tastes.

I can't believe no one mentioned Pizza King....

I know Ellen personally and she normally likes good, cheap, uncomplicated food....

Pizza King IS cheap and "good" ...Depending on who you ask!

I confess, I have a strange craving for Pizza King! Don't forget Uncle Tubby's, too!

Shawn,
How can YOU crave Pizza King? Your pizza is far superior, dispite what Wilhelm says! Sorry i won't see you tonight, going to the Bats game. Have you got the goat cheese and Prociutto?

Pizza King, make sure you get it 'well done' and never, ever, ever get extra cheese.

You are one in a million..A pizza guy that gets the occasional craving for "Pizza King"...I've described it as the "White Castle"of pizza for years and it's nice to know someone else gets it.

I equate this with my love for Gatti's.

Kansai is our favorite place on Veterans. We also eat at Olive Garden and the managers there are very helpful to make your dish vegetarian or vegan whichever you prefer. I always get the 100% whole wheat pasta.

Thanks for the other info though. Can't wait to try the place by the Falls!

something about the diced pepperoni on the Pizza King or Arni's pizza's that make them irresistible about once a year

the small pool of grease in the center of the pizza,

plus, i was raised on Arni's pizza on State St. in New Albany

and it is the white Castle of pizzas

kurt, we searched for disced pepperoni to use at our place and never found a good one

i also crave Cliftons and the original Impellezerri's on Bardstown (where verizon now sits) and BazBeaux's from Indianapolis on occasion

I rarely eat pizza (try not to eat cheese). I did not like Kansai (see my review under "clarksville sushi restaurant"). I'm planning on the Cup of Sunshine Tea House this week. I may try to hit the new Bristol soon.

Ellen glad you found Cup Of Sunshine. Make sure you check out Adrienne and Company on Court St when you get a chance as well.

I have this same love. Partially attributable to all the friday nights after trinity games at the Gattis at Chenoweth Lane. How cool were the tree trunks in the middle of the dining room? (granted, not THAT cool). I make the trip through the camelot drive through about 2x a year for the fix. there's sugar in that thar crust ... and some spice in that sausage!
