I just got back from a failed attempt to get my hair cut because A Place To Go has closed for the entire DAY for Thunder! What's this all about? Is Thunder turning into a religious holiday like Christmas or Easter or Derby?

What's funny, is that I've lived here my whole life, and didn't realize until THIS year how huge Thunder really is. I had guests from New Hampshire, Ohio, Kansas, Tennessee, and Florida, just to name a few. The folks from New Hampshire told me that on travel.org (or some major travel website) Thunder is top 100!! That's pretty cool. My in-laws were in two years ago, and so we took them---they were totally amazed that we had 29 (or so) minutes of fireworks.

As far as being closed, we're close to the festivities, and I were prettttttyyyyyy slllloooowww. Last year's numbers were good, which is why I opened this year, but I'm thinking next year probably won't happen. I have a couple of groups who come every year, so maybe we'll just do something fun for them. I just really think that the people (from Louisville) who travel to the waterfront for Thunder enjoy the "fair food" as much as the fireworks. And the visitors want to be in the middle of the action.

As for other businesses closing, off the beaten path, I just think that with 800,000 plus people on the waterfront, most from Louisville, proprietors are expecting a gloomy day for sales.
