I started thinking about this topic over the weekend and thought I'd ask all the experts here for their opinion. I originally saw the general manager of Claudia Sanders interviewed on TV a few days after Easter at the time she was saying that it was the ham that was the problem, and that it showed that Claudia Sanders wasn't to blame, that it was the fault of the company which made the ham.
I see that the Courier-Journal story says that they're still trying to figure out if the staph infection came from someone at the restaurant or from the ham packing company or whatever those places are called.
Now wouldn't they be recalling all of the hams from that particular food company if the hams had been tainted at the packing facility? I haven't seen any recalls on ham so that made me wonder. Are people out there consuming hams from the same place without knowing that the meat could carry a staph bacteria?
Hope this post makes sense. I just started wondering about that since they haven't said for sure who is/was at fault.
It's really disturbing, regardless, because I bet that Claudia Sanders has lost a tremendous amount of business since the incident. I know that I, personally, won't be able to stomach eating there ever again. I get the heebie-jeebies after something like that happens and it makes my stomach turn to even think about eating at the restaurant in question again. But that makes me sad since it's such an institution. Hopefully everyone won't be like me.
