I was once in an Irish/American pub and overheard two guys sitting next to me at the bar. As they started to talk about their past, they realized they were both originally from Ireland and then even the same town. As they continued, they realized they went to the same school and grew up on the same street. When I mentioned the coincidence to the bartender, he told me to pay no attention. He stated the Mclarney twins were just drunk again...... : )

I was in Ireland in October for a couple of weeks and I couldn't believe how good their beef is. The Irish are very proud of their beef.

Ironically, I had a hard time finding abundant, fresh seafood anywhere and I was touring the west coast, south to north. When I did, it was quite expensive (relatively speaking). I was told that the Irish had sold/given there fishing rights to the Spanish about 100 years ago.

Go figure.

My wife and I did a 9 day trip just like this about 2 years ago. We stayed in many of the same areas. If you need any recommendations on Bed and Breakfasts PM me and I can recommend at least a couple.
As far as our favorites here are a few: In Dingle we loved The Old Smokehouse. They had a creamy potato cheese dish (it was a special) that we loved so much I emailed them for the recipe when we got back. I didn't see Kenmare on your list but if you have time, it was our favorite city. Crazy enough we had one of our best Italian meals ever here at a place called An Leat Pingin. We actually stayed in Doolin - wasn't much there (must hit O'Connors) but we drove north and had some good times in Ballyvaughan at Monks Pub. In Galway we had fish and chips at McDonaghs - its a well known place that was a nice quick bite.

I am so jealous of you. We want to go back so bad! Your post forced me to get out all the pictures and the journal we kept while we were there. We flew into Limerick and rented a car, Stayed in 3 different B&B's and loved every one of them.

Have a great time.

Matt, so that's the name of the italian place in Kenmare! I couldn't remember in my previous post. The food there was fantastic. Kenmare was my favorite place as well on my trip to Ireland last year.

Kenmare is definitely worth a stop on any trip to Ireland.

I would not have remembered the name had I not (1) Taken a picture of the front of the place (2) Kept a meticulous journal - which I seem to have lost in a move - of everything and everywhere we ate.
We actually ended up there on accident. We walked in and they didn't have any more spots so that sat us at the end of a really long table where a family was having a little party. Normally I wouldn't like this but we were in Ireland and I actually was happy this happened. We joined in the party and had some of the best pasta and pizza we have ever had.
Kenmare was an awsome little spot. They were actually having some kind of town fair the day we were there. There was Irish dance competitions, music, games and all the pubs just opened up in the square. When we go back we will be sure to stay there again.
