I just saw a Heine Brothers Coming Soon banner at the site of the former La Vida Java location in Westport Village...

I've become thoroughly addicted to Heine Bros...so while my wallet is cursing this news, I'm delighted to get a super strong brew on ice to go with my Wild Eggs! Now if they would just get to Fern Creek!!

If I'm not mistaken, Heine's staffs its expansion stores fully from baristas who've worked in other Heine Bros stores and expressed interest in, and ability for, being the bosses at an expansion shop. That's a very good way to do business, to me, and one of the best ways I can think of to avoid the crushing effects of scaling up on creativity and passion that's the problem with so many good indies that grow into chains.

This is great news! I love Heine Brothers! Although I liked La Vida Java, I think the owner must have had a hard time keeping staff ... he frequently had ads on Craigslist for baristas. I know someone who worked there for him, and I think he was quite difficult to please, although he seemed very personable whenever I was there.

While I am saddened that La Vida Java is gone, I am glad to see another quality espresso shop give it a shot at Westport Village...PTP...I just wonder if there is ever gonna be enough foot traffic for an espresso shop to make it at that location without the drive-thru business...Anybody remember the Heine Brothers location at Glenview Pointe a few years ago?...

I heard a while back Heine Brothers was going to one of the newer stores in Louisville International Airport. Any idea if/when that's on track?

Yeah, I do ... I called that Holiday Manor, but over off Lime Kiln, anyway, where a branch of Hawley-Cooke was located for a while?
