It doesn't say everyone is welcome. Is it some natural disaster why these folks need sanctuary? Don't think so.

I hope you busted his face.

But sure, carry on whining about the "avalanche of hate" you deal with, you smug victim, you.

Yeah, that's me. Smug to the core. I sit around all day and think of evil things I can do to people. When I think of something particularly nasty, I belt out a load, evil laugh. Just like Trump's cabinet.

Trump and Pence are pretty much an unnatural disaster, Steve. But yes. Misogyny, racism, anti-semitism and anti-Islam and homophobia are normalized now, so yes, there's a reason. Please desist with the bullshit.

It's easy for me to agree with this, since I'm not a libertarian.

I'm sure the sanctuary restaurant movement we return us to goodness and light. Maybe they could launch it with another celebrity video?

Okay, what the eff are you, then? We've got a problem right now, and if you're not part of the solution, well, you know the rest.

In your world it's okay to usually ignore half of all Americans. And when you deign to notice them, contempt is the usual mode. Just like the main idea of the so called Sanctuary Restaurant movement is to protect people from that half of America. At least it would be the idea if it wasn't so much virtue signalling bullshit, as you like to say.

In this case, contempt is fully justified. And if you think Chump got the votes of "half of all America," your math skills are about as deficient as the rest of your intellectual capacity. Hate to have to be harsh, but we're in a mess that's in large part the making of the deplorables. Don't be a deplorable. It sucks.

What is the problem? The political pendulum always swings the other way in responses to excesses of one side or the other.

I was raised a blue collar Democrat, in a union home. Obama spent 8 years doing nothing for these blue collar Americans. Less than nothing. That is why you have Trump. And now we are gonna have a movement of restaurants where blue collar deplorables are not welcome.

I remember a Democratic party that was built on blue collar families. Alas, that time is gone.

Oops ... your reply showed up twice on my screen, so I tried to delete the dupe, and both went away. As much as I disagree with you, I wouldn't do that intentionally. I'm sorry that I can't recover it, but please know that as angry as I am about your belief that this administration is just a pendulum swing like any other and that minorities have nothing to fear from it, I wouldn't intentionally do that, and I apologize.

Robin,
I too noticed the double post, and I also deleted a copy. So , that is why they were both gone. I managed to go back and find a copy in my browser, and restore it.

We're basically effed as a nation

I don't understand this comment? Was this statement made because of the election results, or do you believe we were already "effed" as a nation?

I am for giving the President and new administration a chance to fix the many "effed" up things in our country.

You're one to talk about contempt. People in our community are feeling physically threatened, and snide, smug, dismissing contempt is all you have offered to them. Belittle our patriotism as "virtue signaling" all you want; pushing back against the nativists, white nationalists, religious zealots, and people who call refugees "snakes" every way we can is not going to stop.

Plenty of forums where people can scream at each other about politics. I don't think we need to make another one here.

Iggy C wrote:You're one to talk about contempt.

I return contempt for contempt. A natural response to those who hold me and mine in contempt.

Iggy C wrote:People in our community are feeling physically threatened

Seems most of the organized violence is coming from the left. Or, are you redefining violence to include voting?

Iggy C wrote:and snide, smug, dismissing contempt is all you have offered to them.

My contempt isn't addressed toward them. It is addressed toward upper class leftists and wannabes who want to gain their 'street cred' by directing their fine dining dollars. Ya gotta stick it to the man, amiright?

Iggy C wrote:Belittle our patriotism as "virtue signaling" all you want; pushing back against the nativists, white nationalists, religious zealots, and people who call refugees "snakes" every way we can is not going to stop.

What do you call it when gourmands are fighting for social justice while denigrating half of America by making a public show of dining at certain restaurants? If that's not virtue signaling to your peers, then what is it?

Patriotism?
