my favorite BIG stout though, has to be THUNDERFOOT from the NABC, great balance, the high alcohol is very sneaky and you don't notice until it is far too late
rich, creamy, notes of cherry and vanilla, yummy

Hop Ottin' has been a long-time favorite of mine, as well as the AV Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout. Hop Ottin' has a perfect balance of hops to malt ratio and not so strong you can't enjoy two.

The Thunderfoot was an awesome creation of Jesse Williams. He brought me a growler in exchange for some hops last summer. It had aged quite nicely.

I love the oatmeal too! And I really enjoy Winter Welcome. And the Taddy Porter. I'm quite a fan of Samuel Smith in general. Maybe I should try their IPA.

This thread has made me want to run out and buy a bunch of stouts.

(By the way, I am the poster child for the power of beer education. My early beer experiences involved Bud Light, Coors Light, and Heineken, and I categorically declared that I Did Not Like Beer. Then somebody bothered to introduce me to the good stuff and a whole new world opened up!)

yeh, Jared and Jesse brough me a growler for the wedding and our soft opening

it is my favorite beer created by the JWs (Jared W. and Jesse W.) at the NABC

the BBC's APA, though not extreme, is a darn near perfect example of an American Pale Ale with a great hop flavor

I LOVE the Hop Ottin. It is the beer that made me realize I was a hop head. I tasted it, loved it, and read on the back that it was a "hop-head's dream." So, I figured I must be a hop-head. It will forever be in my top ten beer list just for that.
Maybe this is slightly off topic, but for it's impact on me and the direction that my life is going, I also have to say that I will forever love Unibroue's La Fin Du Monde. It's the first beer I ever had that didn't taste like what I thought beer was "supposed" to taste like. Great champagne-like effervescence, subtle alcohol warmth (which at 9% is saying something) and great fruit character. Its just a great beer. And, again, for me, it changed my life. No joke.

unibroue may be the best thing ever to come from canada (bacon is pretty close though)

Delirium Tremens was my wow, this is beer moment.
the end of the world is pretty tasty and it does have possibly the coolest name in beer

ranks right up there with
Mephistopheles Metamorphosis for beer names

Rochefort 10 was my first holy S&^% beer. So rich and malty with that subtle alcohol warmth. I still rank it as the best beer that I carry in the store.

i just found out today that three floyds gumballhead (which i'm pretty sure was previously a seasonal summer brew) is now produced year round and keg liquors has it in stock. definitely one of the best wheat beers.

I have bottles of the Alpha Kong, and am considering trying one now because I'm curious.

So much for the remainder of the workday.

My all-time favorite of this genre was an homebrewed Imperial Porter brewed with curry spices. It's been more than a decade since I had it, but I can still remember the flavor.

Alpha Kong is about as extreme as it gets. Somewhere around 16% abv in a 22 oz bomber..... find a friend to share it with is my only advice.

Its an awesome beer, though I still question whether there actually is a style called a sextuple, or the Floyds just wanted to put the word sex on a bottle label and get away with it. Rich, malty, spicy... mmmmm I might have to crack the one I have in the beer cellar a little earlier than I planned.
